Director of Training
reports to: executive director
schedule: 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week)
Health Initiatives for Youth's (HIFY) mission is to improve the health and well being of young people. To support the mission, HIFY produces cutting-edge publications written for and by youth, facilitates interactive workshops on a variety of youth health issues, organizes informative trainings for health care providers, and advocates for advocates for young people's right to be healthy. The Director of Training will oversee the training department, including supervision of staff, planning and evaluation of workshops and trainings, and management of both day-to-day details and long-term goals.
� Hire and supervise program staff
� Produce summary reports for grants and evaluation
� Work with management team to plan and monitor program budgets
� Implement annual and long-range program plans for HIFY's work in youth health and development
� Assist in the collection, analysis and production of evaluation data
� Aid in development of curricula on youth health including HIV, substance use, relationships, youth development and other topics
� Facilitate trainings and workshops when necessary
� Design staff development program and work to integrate employee development into all aspects of program planning
� Represent HIFY at community and professional meetings, conferences and workshops, making presentations where appropriate
� Conduct outreach for inservices and assist with production of collateral materials
� Respond to requests for information from community members and peers
� Maintain personal knowledge of health research, youth issues and Bay Area service community
� Contribute articles and information to publications and printed materials
� Participate on HIFY project teams related to new agency initiatives
� Other duties as they relate to HIFY's mission
minimum qualifications: A bachelor's degree and a strong commitment to the mission and vision of Health Initiatives for Youth are required. Position requires substantial supervisory experience, direct experience with youth services, knowledge of adolescent health issues, and an understanding of and commitment to the youth development field. Strong supervision skills and excellent organizational and communication skills required.
