      Through a generous grant from
      the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Saving Newborn Lives (SNL)
      initiative, led by Save the Children US, seeks to draw attention and apply
      resources to the critical need for improved neonatal care. SNL works to
      promote the adoption of affordable and sustainable interventions in
      communities and countries where death rates are highest and which have
      limited access to known, life-saving interventions, and is currently seeking
      a strong Program Manager to provide country-level strategic, technical and
      managerial leadership for the SNL initiative in Malawi. The Program Manager
      will assist in the implementation of the SNL strategic framework and will
      serve as the key in-country spokesperson on policy and technical issues
      related to SNL, and will play a central role in establishing newborn health
      as a national priority. The Program Manager will also manage the
      implementation of program interventions, including assisting with the
      development of material and modules, conducting workshops and training,
      conducting formative research, and monitoring and evaluation of program
      activities. Requirements: Graduate degree in public health required with an
      MD preferred, or registered nurse/midwife, and a minimum of 5-8 years'
      experience designing, implementing, managing and evaluating programs to
      improve maternal and child health and survival programs in the region.
      Experience in newborn care preferred. Strong skills in public health and
      operations research required, as are representational skills and ability to
      network and engage in policy dialogue with donors, researchers, program
      managers and senior government officials. Excellent verbal and written
      English skills also required as are PC skills. Experience in Malawi, or east
      Africa strongly preferred. Ability to travel to impact areas within Malawi
      and internationally as much as 30- 40% of the time. High degree of
      initiative and ability to work independently as well as ability to
