As many of you know, I have had my share of experiences in the paranormal.
When I'm not dealing with this stuff, I am the director of a non-profit
organization call the Praxis Foundation, Inc. We coordinate and host theme
events/conventions to raise moneys for children's charities like JDF, ADA, CMN,
For the past few years our focus of these events has been leaning more into
science fiction - Star Trek, Babylon 5, Earth Final Conflict, Dr. Who, etc.. As
we have been turning the preverbal gears to prepare for our 2001 event, my
husband and I began to discuss the possibility of expanding our venue.
Our thought is this.. Host a "Science - Technology - Learning"
type of event with a diverse focus which would include; UFO phenomenon, the
Paranormal, Science & Technology, and Science Fiction. Instead of Praxis
being a Sci-Fi convention, we would show how "sci-fi" has been the
inspiration for much of our technology today. We would bring in guest speakers
who are spear-heading various fields and possibly even representatives from NASA
and other organizations. We would also have a couple of the "sci-fi fan
guests" that have attended Praxis in previous years. This way it
would be a well rounded event and could provide something for just about
everyone.. We've also talked about having some "hands-on"
learning displays for the kids and maybe even a mini science fair for them too.
What I would like to know is just what kind of interest a show like this
would draw. Would you attend something like this? And (here comes the biggie) is
there anyone interested / willing to jump on board and help with the
organization of an event like this? I really needs some able bodies to lend a
helping hand <G>
The one thing I have found different from the sci-fi groups I'm associated
with and these 'paranormal' groups is that the sci-fi groups are becoming
fragmented - where this "family" tends to really pull together to help
each other... and that's why I've come to you for your comments, suggestions,
Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this.. I await your responses.
