LOCATION: On Orbit
OFFICIAL KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: Nov. 30, 2000 at 10:06 p.m. EST
KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: Dec.11, 2000 at 6:19 p.m.
MISSION DURATION: 10 days, 20 hours and 13 minutes
CREW: Jett, Bloomfield, Tanner, Noriega, Garneau
ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 177 nautical miles/51.6 degrees
Shuttle Processing Note: Space Shuttle Endeavour and a five-member astronaut
crew lifted off from KSC's Launch Pad 39B on time today at 10:06:01 p.m.
EST. The KSC launch team worked no significant issues in the final hours of
the countdown and a flawless launch began a crucial STS-97 mission to
provide early power to the International Space Station. This marks the
101st mission in Space Shuttle history and the 25th night launch.
The two solid rocket booster recovery ships, Freedom Star and Liberty Star,
deployed into the Atlantic Ocean Wednesday, Nov. 29 at about 3p.m.
Depending upon the progress of recovery operations and weather
conditions, the ships are expected to return to Port Canaveral Saturday
afternoon with boosters in tow.
