Black Cat Spotted At Derbyshire UFO Hotspot
      [Original headline: panther puzzler]

A black panther puzzle may be solved by two hairs.

They were found on top of a wall just vaulted by a mystery creature.

It is thought to have scraped its tummy when startled by a car heading
up a country lane near Matlock.

Police found the hairy clues and plan to pass them onto a zoologist or
forensic expert. Pc Paul Hartshorn warned that they could prove to be
badger hairs - leaving the panther poser still hanging in the air.

But he said: "I think there is something out there.

"We have had sightings in the Peak District for at least 15 years and
      we take them seriously."

The latest report was at 1.30pm on Friday, April 19 as a woman was
driving up a lane in Two Dales.

She phoned the police within an hour of seeing a creature run across
the road in front of her vehicle.

Then it jumped over the wall and headed uphill.

Pc Hartshorn said the incident took place at a crossing point probably
      used by many animals.

It provides a link between nearby woods and the hilltop.

Black panther reports have come in across the county, leading to
suggestions they might by breeding in the wild.

Pc Hartshorn added: "For a cat like that to exist, it would need a
      large territory."
