I have found running LinuxCNC on Beaglebone Black aka BBB is a bit more tempermental than on a PC.
The processor on the BBB only runs at 1GHz ARM processer so it is a bit slow..
You have the option to use the headers on the BBB and wire them to your machine directly or you can use a Cape..
If you wish to use a... Probotix has a nice Cape but it does not allow you to have much more than running three axises and limit switches and I have found that other Capes offer just about the same but there are a few that have a few more features...
