We will be collecting business plans for an initial screening by our sponsors at Sierra, and selected teams will be granted a private meeting with partners in Sierra's office. Plans targeting all IT and CleanTech sectors, US or China/global, with seed or growth stage funding needs, are welcome to participate.Sierra invests broadly in technology sectors, including enterprise software, Internet and web applications, software-as-a-service, security, mobile applications, telecommunications, semiconductors, hardware systems, components and subsystems, storage, and energy companies. Ben also leads Sierra’s investment practice in China. He has led the Firm’s investments in Applied Microstructures, AuthenTec (NASDAQ: AUTH), Digital Media Group, Gobi Partners, InvenSense, mSilica, Micro Power, Multigig, SemEquip (acquired by Ceradyne), VeriSilicon and Verari. He served on the Board of Paracer (acquired by Stratos Lightwave) and SyChip (acquired by Murata) and he is actively involved in current Sierra investments in Element Labs, Eltek Valere and Novariant. Ben’s current Board seats include Applied Microstructures, InvenSense, Multigig, mSilica, 800APP, Novariant (Observer), Verari (Observer) and VeriSilicon.Ben started his career as a researcher and system architect, contributing pioneering work on 10 Gb Ethernet at 3Com and a 100 Gbps optical switching system at Princeton University. His role includes the development of external advisory boards such as the Sierra Ventures CIO Advisory Board, and the development of partnerships with services providers such as Angel investors, recruiters, Venture Banking, and law firms. Gamiel is also responsible for the Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Incubation program. At Sierra Ventures, he is focused on enterprise software, infrastructure software, consumer internet and open source investments.Gamiel has more than 20 years of operational roles leading Business Development, Alliances and Channels for companies such as IBM, Oracle, BEA, Asera, Edify and Cassatt. Prior to joining Sierra in 2008, Gamiel was VP Global Channels/Business Development at Cassatt Corp., VP Global Channel Sales at Edify, VP Strategic Alliances at BEA, and VP Business Development at Asera. He also spent four years at Oracle in Channel Sales and ten years at IBM in Business Development and Sales. During his career, Gamiel has been recognized for successfully establishing strategic relationships and launching channels and indirect sales models in publications such as VAR Business and CRN have captured these skills with various industry awards.Gamiel holds a BA in Economics/Social Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
