      Host Needed - 20 Jul

      LAST WEEKS:

A new player (Scot) joined us for the first time and it was nice to see quite a few of the group turn out to welcome him on board.  With seven players, the natural choice seemed to be 7 WONDERS the card drafting civilization building game.  In fact, we played it twice, the first time to help folks get a feel for the rules and pace of the game.  And a second time as folks wanted to try it yet once again with that better understanding.

The first game saw Ben go heavily into the military (red) cards so much so that he scored the maximum 18 points for it.  But probably a bit too much emphasis on military (additional cards dont help win any more points) as Ben failed to score any science or guild points, and only a few points in his wonder.   Dave and Tim seemed to be generating quite a bit of cash (garnering 10 points each) while Rich managed to get quite a bit of science to edge out Tim by one point.  (Scores are per the provided scorepad: military (red) + money + wonder + civil (blue) + trade (yellow) + guilds (purple)  + science (green))

      Rich:   14 + 4 + 0 + 6 + 0 + 0 + 31 = 55

      Dave:   -6 + 0 + 10 + 16 + 13 + 4 + 0 = 46

      Ben:    18 + 2 + 3 + 13 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 36

      Scot:   4 + 4 + 8 + 22 + 2 + 0 + 0 = 40

      Tim:    0 + 7 + 10 + 8 + 4 + 25 + 0 = 54

      Jeff:   10 + 1  + 0 + 19 + 0 + 6 + 13 = 49

      Lawr:   0 + 1 + 10 + 20 + 0 + 17 + 2 = 50

We quickly set up and started again.  This time, Tim strongly pursued science finishing three sets with a fourth card in one of the icons for 21 + 9 + 9  + 16 = 55 points or as much as Rich had scored in the prior game.  A few more points from military, money, and his wonder brought his total up to 61 points.  The guilds were definitely in play this game as folks tried to match Tims score.  Jeff had scored 19 in guild points to go with 12 in civil and 13 in military to come close with a total of 54 points.  Rich again managed to gain military points (17) as well as double digit points (or nearly so in 4 other areas)wonder (10), civil (19), guilds (10), science (9) to beat Tims science with 71 points:

      Rich:   17 + 3 + 10 + 19 + 3 + 10 + 9 = 71

      Dave:   -2 + 10 + 11 + 24 + 5 + 0 + 0 = 48

      Ben:    11 + 6 + 0 + 16 + 3 + 0 + 0 = 36

      Scot:   2 + 1 + 20 + 6 + 0 + 13 + 4 = 46

      Tim:    1 + 2 + 3 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 55 = 61

      Jeff:   13 + 3 + 5 + 12 + 0 + 19 + 2 = 54

      Lawr:   -4 + 4 + 3 + 19 + 0 + 6 + 13 = 41

Nice to see that with the first round practice, most scores increased for the second game

      THIS WEEK:

Have a business function this Wednesday night, so unable to host this week.  If anyone wishes to host, please feel free to post to the list and do so.  See you all next week
