I am going to try and make it tonight,  but I have been working until about 9 pm every night last week and this week so far, so I don’t know it’s totally dependent on today’s workload whether or not I can be there.

I'm planning to come this week. I'm not sure if Kern will be joining
      me or not.

As far as the next couple of weeks are concerned, I can investigate the
availability of the rec room here, but I don't want to bother if no one
wants to come out this way (Castro Valley exit from 580). Let's discuss
tomorrow night (or by email if you can't attend).

So with a smaller group, we brought out DOMINANT SPECIES a new area-control, action point game from GMT. Each player is a class of animals seeking to adapt and thrive (in an abstracted way) to an ancient world that is undergoing glaciations before the inevitable Ice Age that will end the game. The actions let one modify one’s animals, modify the world with positively or negatively. Or one could score a hex where the most populous will score the most points, but the best adapted (most dominant in game terms) will get a special card/power to resolve. We did end the game a round early as we were running out of time, but in the rush to do so, forgot to invoke the Ice Age power (bonus points for tiles which your animals dominate). And we might have scored survival twice? Any way, despite an early lead by Dave, the catch up cards allowed both Rich (Ecodiversity for 11 VPs) and Tim (Niche Biomes for 18 VPs) to make a game of it by game’s end:

But this week (Sep 29), I still have the game table open and ready for games. (Dave indicated he has a conflict on Wednesday, so probably won’t attend.) But still plenty of room for anyone interested in games. Please RSVP if you think you will attend for….
