The first day of the new fishing season (2012/13) started on Monday
the 30th July. The wind was light from the North and the harbour
smooth. The fishermen had been anxiously awaiting this day since the 1st July for a day, and there were some concerns that maybe there wouldn't get a day in July at all.
However, as always at the start of the season there were a number of
minor problems with four of the nine boats having problems. The day
ended with the boats landing a total of 2673kgs with the top boat
being Larry and Christopher Swain landing a total of 712kgs.
It was also the first day for 16 year old apprentice Conchita, she is
only the second girl apprentice to go fishing to date.
