Drilling Rig News
- Radio Saint FM in St. Helena reported yesterday:
The Administrator on Tristan da Cunha has confirmed that the Governor of St Helena and its dependency Tristan da Cunha
has issued a permit under the Environmental Protection (Overseas Territories) Order, for the stranded rig P21, the
Turtle, to be disposed of at sea, with due regard to meeting environmental concerns. We now expect a suitably
experienced contractor to be appointed to undertake the job of removing the rig as soon as possible. Work could begin
as early as mid-December.
It may be that the regular fishing vessel Kelso will be chartered to support the salvage work.
The issue of cost is being discussed with the Owner’s agents and the rig insurers at the moment.
