Despite the frequent seismic activity in the waters around Tristan, Fisheries officials say that there has been a good catch
The 2004/05 lobster season ended on the 22nd April. This year catches were again as good as they had been for the past few
years. There was also a 20 tonnes increase in the Tristan quota to 158 tonnes and a 30 tonne reduction in the Gough Island
quota to try and increase stock. The quota was landed in 42 days at Tristan but could have been landed early, if there was
not a restriction on landings at the Factory, this was due to landing a good quality product. The total quota for the
Tristan group was 358 tonnes for the 2004/05 season.
Given the good catch this year, it is hoped that next year’s season will be just as successful.
