Subject: [tri-atv] April Tri-ATV Association Meeting

The Triangle ATV Association held its quarterly meeting on Wednesday, April 17th, and if you were not there, you missed a good one!

      In attendance were:

      Mark Freeze, President WD4KSE

      Charlie Durst NC4CD, Vice-President

Woody Woodward K3VSA Treasurer, Secretary, Webmaster

      Steve Ferrarnini KJ4BX

      Michael North KK4EIB

      Rodney Radford AK4CH

      1.  There being no objections the existing slate of club officers was reelected for 2013:

      Mark Freeze, President WD4KSE

      Charlie Durst NC4CD, Vice-President

Woody Woodward K3VSA Treasurer, Secretary, Webmaster

      2.  Treasurer reported that the balance in our SunTrust account is $2,273.18, and that SunTrust will begin deducting a fee of $12 each month.  The treasurer will investigate finding another financial institution which will handle our account for free.  Recent activity was a $50 payment to MakerFaire NC, which had been approved late last year.

      3.  Triangle ATV Association will have a presence at MakerFaire NC 2013 along with other contibuting organizations under the "North Carolina Amateur Radio" name.  Being a sponsor, Triangle ATV Association's logo will be displayed.

      4.  It was discussed and determined that we should begin a regular, published video net using the NC4TV repeater some time before the next quarterly Triangle ATV meeting.

      5.  Rodney AK4CH gave a very interesting explanation of ATV telemetry he has done in conjunction with both high-power rocketry and near-space ballooning.  He brought with him some of the miniature hardware he's used, including a Raspberry Pi.   He and his group will be attempting three balloon launches, on May 10th (at Horseshoe Park in Raleigh), June 15th (in conjunction with MakerFaire NC 2013), and July 10th.  The July 10th launch is to be held at a Durham Bulls baseball game, and is to feature the ascent being shown on the stadium's big-screen display via live ATV over 70cm.  Images sent at ever increasing altitudes will be shown during the breaks between innings.

      6.  The next Triangle ATV Association meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17th and has been posted to the website.
