      As part of the exhibit, AT WORK: THE ART OF CALIFORNIA LABOR, El
      Pueblo Historical Monument, in collaboration with The Mexican
      Cultural Institute and The Echo Park Film Center, will present
      MAQUIL√ĀPOLIS, a feature documentary by Vicky Funari and Sergio De La
      Torre, which examines the lives of two women who work in Tijuana's
      maquiladoras, the multi-nationally owned factories drawn to Mexico
      for its cheap labor. The free screening takes place on Friday,
      August 11, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. The Pico House Gallery will be open
      Friday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. for those wishing to view the
      exhibit prior to the film screening.

      About AT WORK: THE ART OF CALIFORNIA LABOR
      A collaboration between the California Exhibition Resources Alliance
      (CERA) and El Pueblo Historical Monument, AT WORK examines the rich
      and tumultuous history of California's workers and their movements
      from the turn of the 20th century to the present. The exhibition,
      which runs until August 14, 2006, features the work of such artists
      as Diego Rivera, Dorothea Lange, Tina Modotti, Emmy Lou Packard,
      Malaquias Montoya, Yolanda Lopez and Ester Hernandez, and is curated
      by Marianna Gatto and Shervin Shahbazi.
