I have had my Vivante SE 266 for over three years with minimal problems-I am satisfied! My battery died for about a year-it would not hold a charge at all.

I have had my Vivante SE 266 for over three years with minimal problems-I am satisfied!  My battery "died" for about a year-it would not hold a charge at all. but recently it came "back to life" and shows a 97% charge!  Any ideas on that one!

WOW!!!  I have the same EXACT problemo!!!   The 'AC adaptor plugs into is
very loose, so the power will no longer come on'

I wonder if we did a query as to how many people would reply about their
Transmonde piece-of-sh** laptops having the same exact problem.

Mine is still apart on the workdesk collecting dust.

Where do we get the batteries or a battery recharger from ??

I have a 1998 Transmonde Vibrant LS 366 Celeron notebook to sell for
parts or as a whole if someone would like to attempt to fix it. The
small metal connector post inside the computer where the AC adaptor
plugs into is very loose, so the power will no longer come on. It can
run by battery, although the battery can't be recharged because of
the post. Please email at "mhca@..." if interested.

I fixed mine; it took all of 10 mins, most of which was getting it all apart.

"Piece of sh*t" my ass. I still use mine *every* day, and untill the battery
won't charge any more, I have no need to ever stop using my Vivante' SE.

I couldn't agree more.  My Vivante SE266 hasn't missed a beat since I bought it.  Of course, the battery is only good for about 30 minutes, but that is normal.  My company supplies Toshiba Sat Pro's with the 700 MHz CPU and I feel they are not any faster than my T'mond.  I actually prefer the "feel" of the Transmonde.

      N'uh uh!

I get ~3.5 hrs out of mine (running Linux), almost 3 years later on the same
      battery that came with it.
