Been testing some TNC's here with USAPhotomaps and APRS. If you use a KPC-3 that has been reset using the internal jumper to restore all factory defaults, then use hyper-terminal to set Interface from new-user to terminal and pick the correct baud rate it will start working immediately with USAPmaps. If you connect a Tracker2 up to the computer you will need to manually edit some things first. As soon as the TNC sends data for the first time it hears something each time you make a new connection, USAPmaps will send a series of commands back to the TNC. Or if you are in a quiet area and hear nothing you can hit your enter key to send the string of commands to the TNC. The commands are:

      MONITOR OFF
      ECHO ON
      HID OFF
      MONITOR ON

Since monitor comes first (a valid T2 command) and echo comes next (an invalid T2 command) you get a EH? and everything stops, (HID never even makes it to the T2), you manually need to turn monitor back on before you can receive any data. MON ON will do from the edit window.
