    They all seem to do it. Must be a feature. When you get tired of it go to RadioShack or your favorite online vendor and get a 3.5mm (AKA 1/8in) mono plug.

      When you get tired of it go to RadioShack or your favorite online vendor
      and get a 3.5mm (AKA 1/8in) mono plug.

      Plug it in to the speaker jack on the back of the radio and enjoy the
      new peace and quiet.

      And, in case you forget the plug is in the radio, put an 8 ohm 1/4 watt resistor across the pins in the plug to keep the audio amplifier happy. WF5X
