- Jan 2, 2014They'll get their peak capacity at low currents, but Energizer rates their 9v alkalines at 3 hours discharge to 6v at 100 mA. Not a good solution for running your tracker every day, but more than adequate for testing.

A 9V alkaline "transistor" battery is good for a few tens of milliamps - 20 to 40 IIRC. This is the low end of the scale for a typical GPS receiver, so yeah, that 9v probably isn't enough.
