  • I loved the book written by his wife; Day before yesterday: the reminiscences of Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. They really seemed to have a great marriage and were devoted to each other. I also recommend reading letters written by both TR and TR jr. They are filled with advise, humor and are richly rewarding. I live too far from the National Archives to read the original so my...

  • Try in "The Letters of Theodore Roosevelt" edited by Elting E. Morrison, John M. Blum, Alfred D. Chandler Jr., Sylvia Rice, et.al. Vol III, pages 193-194. There is a letter from TR to Archbishop Ireland which touches upon your topic. The footnote for the letter explains how the patronage changed. --- In tr-m@^$1, Jonathan Brodo wrote: > > Hello Everyone, > > I am writing a paper...

  • Thank you for the information. I will contact the archivist about the letter. It does speak "William" but I am unable to decipher the rest of the sentence. The rest of the paragraph talks about customs so I believe the etchings were sent. Another interesting gift from the Storers is the Encke painting of Roosevelt in the military uniform. There are two letters I found that refer to...

  • I have attended Dickinson's TR Symposiums for the last five years. They always have great speakers. This last year was particularly good because both the TRA and Dickinson combined their annual event. Not too shabby with Douglas Brinkley and Edmund Morris speaking about TR. We also had a tour of the Badlands which was wonderful as well. On Jan 14, 2012, at 8:09 AM, Stan Wien wrote...
