      Our headquarters hotel is the Hilton Portland, located at 921 S.W. Sixth Avenue, Portland, Oregon  97204-1296, conveniently located in the heart of downtown Portland.
       
      The 85th Annual Meeting of the Theodore Roosevelt Association takes place in Portland, Oregon, Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23, 2004. The format is a conference on TR and the West and on Conservation, Past, Present, and Future, with leading historians and environmentalists among the speakers, including H.W. Brands, Char Miller, and others. The Honorary Chair, and recipient at the Saturday dinner of the Theodore Roosevelt Distinguished Service Medal, is former U.S. Senator Mark Hatfield of Oregon.

      Our "Block Code" is simply

      Meetings for officers begin on Friday morning, and so arrival Thursday is necessary.  There is a program for college students as well as TRA people
      given on Friday morning at one local college campus and repeated on Friday afternoon at another local college campus. A detailed program of events and times for the weekend will be mailed out to all TRA members at a later date. This information is sent to you now so you can make travel plans and hotel reservations.
       
      The prices are $ 85 per night for single or double; and $ 100 per night for triple or quad.
      Ordinary prices for single/double are in the range of $ 195-215, and $ 225-245 for triple/quad. Suites are available at $ 550.
       
      Our contact person at the Portland Hilton is Susan Hemberry, but it is not necessary to speak to her directly to make your reservations. Linda Milano will also be happy to speak to you about your needs.
