Dragon*con 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia is now underway. The first day saw a
full round of interesting panels for Anglophiles of all ages.

There were lots of costumes, surprisingly a lot of 2nd Doctor costumes
to be exact. There were also people dressed up like the 4th, 10th and
      11th Doctors in great numbers.

Several Daleks and a few Cybermen roamed the halls and a large Police
Box materialized outside of the ballrooms at the Sheraton.

The day was top heavy with programming for Doctor Who, Torchwood and
other British shows. Anglotopia.net hosted their own panel in the morning.

      *TOM BAKER PANEL*

An eager group of classic Who fans gathered at the Marriott for a panel
discussion on the 4th Doctor, his legacy and his importance to the
      history of Doctor Who.

The role of Baker’s companions, particularly the late Liz Sladen, were
also discussed. A survey of his tenure as The Doctor was discussed and
      panelists discussed their favorite episodes.

      *SYLVESTER MCCOY ROCKS THE HOUSE*

The 7th Doctor was definitely in the house for day one at Dragoncon. He
played the Doctor Who theme on spoons, took the microphone out into the
audience to answer their own questions and generally created zany
      mischief at his opening panel.

McCoy discussed his career and offered interesting stories about his
      time in the TARDIS.

      * TORCHWOOD*

Gareth David Lloyd returned to Dragoncon this afternoon and discussed
his band, Blue Gillespie, his appearance on Warehouse 13 and life after
      Torchwood.

Lloyd mentioned his strong desire to appear in Game of Thrones and
talked at length about his passion for horror films and music.

He also talked about working in America, location filming and working
      with John Barrowman.

John Barrowman was also a subject of Nana Visitor’s talk in the
afternoon. The actress talked about her role in Miracle Day while also
talking aoubt her experience of working with the original cast.

Visitor also discussed working on the sets for Deep Space Nine and
Battlestar Galactica. She also opened up on her passion for cooking. She
discussed her work on Broadway and told several interesting stories
about growing up in a showbiz family.

She enjoyed working on Torchwood and had several nice things to say
      about working with John Barrowman.

She was very entertianing an accomodating to the fans.

      *CLASSIC WHO*

There will be more classic Doctor Who panels on Sunday. I tis great to
note that this year this is more interest in the older series then in
years past which is a great thing!!!

An exhausting day ended with walking through the hotels and seeing the
various costumes people were wearing. this year there are even more
      Doctor Who costumes then ever.

Tomorrow: Day 2 has more panels and a BBC America screening event!
