MODERATOR NOTE REGARDING LARGE VOLUMES OF EMAIL
- Please let's all take it down a notch and try to be civil and kind.
Pfyre was trying to be helpful and just trying to share items that
might be of interest to other members of the group.
Please remember that being a member of a Yahoo! group means that you
are a willing participant of a posting board which will have a large
volume of posts as discussions occur regarding the specific topic.
Pfyre's posts were noninflammatory and generally had appropriate
subject lines. The members who have been complaining were not
complaining about the content of the posts, but the volume. Those
members probably have their Yahoo! group set to "Individual Posts" -
that means that you will get a separate individual email every time
someone posts to the board. If you DO NOT WISH TO RECEIVE A LARGE
VOLUME OF EMAILS FROM YOUR YAHOO GROUP then you should go to
www.groups.yahoo.com and log in. Please go to your group setting and
you can set your notifications to either "Daily Digest" or to no
notifications at all. That way, you can just get a single daily
email with all of the posts that have occurred throughout the day -
or you can get no posts at all and just log into your group to read
any posts that may interest you.
Pfyre was not at fault as the posts were generally on-topic, or if
not, were properly announced not to be so (said "OT" in the subject
line). Please do not post complaints to the board about the volume
of emails you are reciving. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ADJUST YOUR
EMAIL SETTINGS TO HOW MUCH EMAIL YOU WISH TO RECEIVE. There was a
notification on how to do this when you joined Yahoo! groups as well
as an agreement you were supposed to read before joining. If you did
not bother to read this or have forgotten these instructions, please
go to www.groups.yahoo.com, log in, and click on the button in the
top right hand corner that says "Help." Please use common sense.
Also, if you WISH to get these notifications and they are going to
your spam mailbox, then you need to go to your spam settings in your
email service provider and change it's security settings to allow
those messages to go through, or else put "email@example.com"
into your address book located in your email service provider so that
it will recognize emails from the group as legitimate and let it
If members have problems dealing with the yahoo groups board settings
and the "help" section doesn't resolve the issue, please contact the
moderators at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will try to
assist you off-line. Comments or disagreements about the TOPIC are
fine to post on-line. PLEASE DO NOT POST COMMENTS THAT ARE SPECIFIC
PERSONAL ATTACKS AGAINST OTHER MEMBERS ON-LINE. If you have a
problem with another member, please notify the moderators and we will
review and discuss with the owner. Thank you.
