Tom Baker with his trusty time machine
All DVDs released on June 4th.
The current Doctor Who incarnation (David Tennant) is proving to be a
popular choice with the viewing public, but it is still Tom Baker who holds
the key to the hearts of many fans of the Doctor.
Released on BBC DVD this week is Robot, a classic Baker episode which was
filmed soon after he replaced Jon Pertwee in the Tardis. This episode is a
character driven drama, with Baker running the show as the slightly crazy
but loveably quirky doctor.
Special features on the DVD include an audio commentary from the stars
(including Baker) as well as a documentary looking at his introduction as
Doctor Who and what it was like for him making his first ever episode.
There are also some retro clips from Blue Peter filmed on the set of Robot
and a photo gallery of the production.
For those who are currently soaking up as much Doctor Who as possible, you
can't go wrong with this great introduction to one of the BBC's classic
Also released this week is Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Season 6,
episodes 13 to 24. This sequence of the hit US show is based in the
original location of Las Vegas and shows the team analysing the murders and
crimes affecting the Strip and the murky underworld that exists beneath the
glamour of the casinos.
The DVD includes audio commentary from some of the show's stars, as well as
a trajectory of the whole season and various production galleries.
Also released in a week seemingly dominated by old shows are series nine
and ten of the Dennis Waterman classic Minder.
