Maybe they have released new edtions, but I remember a few years ago when TV Guide was screaming about the fact that the DVDs were cut. Maybe A&E listened and released the uncut ones finally. I hope so.

A&E edited the EPISODES for airing, but as far as I know the DVDs are
uncut. There would be NO reason to cut the episodes on the DVD because
DVDs do not contain commericials.
Mind you, I'm not a fan of "The Avengers" (I think it's cute, but there
are a lot of other British shows I like better). BUT I have seen a few
of the black and white Emma Peel episodes, on DVD, over at friend's
houses-- and the episodes run about 52 minutes, and thus are uncut.
("The Avengers" ran on ITV, a British *commericial* television network--
the episodes were never a full hour long. However, the versions aired
on BBCA or A&E are cut to current standards for airtime, which is
probably 42 minutes, maybe 45 in the early 90s, the last time A&E ran
