RE: [toad] Concern about passwords for Project Manager FTP
Great request. You are correct that the server passwords are just as
critical (sometimes more so) as the Oracle passwords. Unfortunately,

Subject: [toad] Concern about passwords for Project Manager FTP
Background: I have setup a daily batch job for all the developers to
copy the User_files directory to a network drive in case of a HD crash.
I had read previously that the passwords were encrypted .. and only can
be used on the same workstation they were created on.
Concern: I have been promoting the use of Project Manager to the
developers so when one of them asked me to show them .. I copied my
project.tpr to there hard drive. To my surprise .. all of the ftp
connections worked with my passwords.
I had assumed that they were workstation specific like the Oracle
passwords and could not be copied to another workstation. The server
passwords are just as critical as the Oracle logins.
I will have to change my backup strategy so that it does not backup the
Request: could you change Toad so that the Project FTP passwords are
encrypted and workstation specific? (and any other passwords that
Project Manager saves)
