Won’t Microsoft net meeting perform the same task?

      Hello Jeff, et al.,

About a month ago, I participated in a net seminar held by the folks at CRN magazine that was the best I've seen to date. All the attendees downloaded some client software plug-in and were able to see on our screens what the instructor was doing on his machine at the same time. We called a separate 800 phone# and he was describing what he was doing as we watched on the screen. We could ask questions in real time and be answered right there. We could even see his mouse pointer moving around, clicking, menus, results, etc.! It was very cool and a great way to communicate something like this.

However, Jeff, I have no idea how to set it up, so whatever Quest has will be appreciated. It doesn't have to be some big formal thing, just some of us "gathering" around your computer monitor as you walk us through a tour and field questions. I know of at least 3 or 4 other developers/DBAs here at NCDC that would like to attend.

Well, i've been kicking around the idea of putting together several little video files to show what the PM can do, but maybe a net seminar would be easier.Peter, is this something you would like to setup, or would you like Quest to put something semi-formal together?-jeff

Sounds like there are a number of us here who would like to learn more about the PM. May I suggest a net seminar on this subject?

The Project Manager, in my humble-opinion, is the greatest thing to hit TOAD since i joined the team.  It represents a paradigm-shift of how we want to make a DBA's/Developer's life easier.  Instead of allowing a user to easily create a table, it allows a user to seemlessly accomplish everyday tasks.

Many of the people on the TOADTeam use the Project Manager for doing work on TOAD.  I use it to update the release notes, the FAQ, and TOADSoft.

      Here's 1 Tip/Trick -

+Currently TOAD only allows a person to define 1 DB connection by default for startup.  Using the Project Manager i can have TOAD automatically connect to as many schemas as I want.  Here's how to do it

Step 1 - Disable the Login Window at StartUP
Step 2 - Enable the Project Manager at Startup
Step 3 - Open the PM and add your most frequent DB's you work with.
      Step 4 - Congifure those to auto-connect.

The next time you start TOAD, those connections will automatically be established.  Also, what many people may not realize, if you have a DB object in a project, and you aren't connected, but try to perform an action against it, i.e. Generate DDL to Clipboard, it will create the connection for you.

I have recently seen some traffic referring to project manager. I have
never used it. I would be interested in knowing what it buys me if
      anything.

I know I could surf through the helps and get a feel for it, but that is
not overly convenient. Helps are great if you know what you want to do
but need specific info on how to do it. In this case I don't even know
what I want to do so the how to do it is immaterial.

I also saw a recent note about a TOAD book being available soon. Will
that cover Project Manager with respect to:
         First, why use project manager
How will it make you more productive
How will it make your work easier
How will it make managing your work easier
Second, how to use project manager

try refreshing your page...i fixed all the bad html.  if your page is still wrapping, i think it must be due to your older browser not liking my table definitions.

i'll be posting a PDF format to toadsoft later this week so everyone can read it properly.

Don't know if it's just my browser settings or not, but this page has
no word wrapping, so lines go a very long way to the right.  This
makes the page very difficult to view and read.
