I think you are right, I don't think I've ever seen a crystal actually fail, though it is possible, of course. The next thing I would do is check the bottom

It looks like the 20Mhz crystal is not oscillating on the PIC. Hope it's just the crystal, but crystals really are not prone to failure...

No that is not what I mean. I was just looking at it with a scope and when it transmits it does not send a packet the 500Hz changes pitch to 2khz transmitting

Assuming what you are talking about is a 500 Hz tone, not a squeal, this is normal. The modem chip in this unit has a slow speed full duplex "back channel"

Yes, you can use your existing USB TNC-X with the PI. If you need more TNC's I suggest getting the TNC-PI rather than more TNC-X. 73, John _____ From:

Mike I find that the buffers fill up on windows that the TNC quit doing their thing. I found that the Windows Auto Start has cleared up that issue. For some
