What does this mean, that it's not working, or that I don't need one. I have tried to disconnect it but the tv wouldn't work without it.

      Thanks for your help..

If you are not missing channels, don't sweat it, it's working. If you're missing channels, then reboot the tivo and tuning adapter, it usually resolves itself after that for a while, though it may take hours to actually get all your channels working again.

I have concluded that neither Tivo nor the cable company really wants this arrangement to work, the cable company wants to rent you equipment, and Tivo really wants to sell the software to the cable company so you can rent it from them.

When I first got it the light was a steady green. I've asked techs about it but I'm not sure they knew .
AfaIk I'm getting all the channels I've selected so I guess I shouldn't worry about it. I just have to turn the blinking light away coz I can't stand seeing it all the time. It makes me feel insecure, like something's not right lol

I got a replacement one and after some fussing it stays steady green, but it also drops connection to the TiVo fairly regularly, so it's not really working properly.

Just like your microwave clock, you'll get used to the flashing.

you seem to be talking about 2 different things, your Tivo is only going to be hooked up to one.  Spectrum is typically a cable service provider, the modem and router, and likely your Wifi. Tivo is likely hooked up to this.  I suggest wired if you can, wireless can be less stable.

Your iPhone is a completely different source, and your Tivo isn't using that one, so bars on your phone are meaningless (until it's time to call for service).

I do have the tivo connected wired, anything I can do wired I do..my pc, et. But that's confusing to me too because all the streaming is wi-fi..

You should probably check your internet speed, using a computer plugged into the router, with as many other internet users not consuming bandwidth as possible, go to speedtest.net and see what your bandwidth is.  Spectrum in my area was 60MBs, and it's now 100MBs, so you should see speeds close to 80-90% of that number.

If you have a geek/nerd/techie friend who knows networks, you might ask him/her to give your setup a look.
