- I have had so much trouble with Charter cable over the years and pay them a premium monthly amount, that I would like to just cut the cable and go to streaming instead. But I have no idea how to go about it and what would be the best way to go or what to buy.I don't want to have a dish in the yard but I read about something that you can install yourself in the house instead of rabbit ears.Could anyone point me in the right direction?Thank you..ps I am 81 years old, female and not that knowledgeable about electronics but I can follow directions if they are not too complicated..
- Unfortunately, cable tends to be the best internet in terms of bandwidth and speed. What other options do you have for internet service ?As for rabbit ears, it depends on which Tivo you have if an antenna can be connected or not.If I understand correctly, Verizon FIOS uses cable cards, but AT&T FIOS does not, so Verizon might be an option for you.Generally, I think devices like Roku work best for streaming cord cutters, but I know Tivo does many of the same options, but you would probably have to maintain your subscription, which cuts into savings.--On Sun, Nov 11, 2018 at 4:24 PM Sandra Cochrane sanreid@... - I am a ham radio operator and have just gotten back on HF running
FT8 digital mode on 20 meters. Power is 25 watts and the antenna is a
20m dipole in the attic. I have a TiVo Bolt and 2 TiVo Minis connected
to the Bolt using a Moca (cable) network.
Whenever I operate my transmitter the Bolt loses its IP address and
gets an APIPA address (169.254.x.x). Once this happens the Minis can no
longer to the Bolt and stop working.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Have you been able to do
something about it? Ferrite beads around the Ethernet cable on the Bolt?
Ferrite on the coax cable to the Minis?
Thanks for your help,
Ken
