I'm not sure what this will mean to TIVO DVR users
especially since ROVI changed their name to TIVO
and thus TIVO is a much larger company than the
      original TIVO used to be.

I wasn't aware of ROVI before and I don't think I have ever heard of
a company buying another company and then changing their name
to that of the company they just bought.

Does anyone know who ROVI was or why I never heard
      of them before ?

TiVo announced that Time Warner Inc.’s HBO has signed a long-term intellectual property license. HBO’s new license will provide it access to the TiVo patent portfolios and the over-the-top assets of the Intellectual Ventures patent portfolio under the TiVo/IV licensing partnership. “Our license agreement with HBO reinforces the value our innovative patent portfolios deliver to the OTT industry as we continue helping companies quickly adapt to a rapidly changing and fragmented media industry,” said Samir Armaly, executive vice president of intellectual property and licensing at Rovi Corporation, a TiVo company, in a statement. Last year, prior to Rovi acquiring TiVo for $1.1 billion and taking on the TiVo name, Rovi signed an exclusive OTT partnership with Intellectual Ventures to combine their patents. The combined portfolio addresses OTT aspects including content management and delivery, streaming technologies and consumer-facing features and functionality. It happens - two examples I can think of of the top of my head are actually the same company.  America West Airlines basically bought USAir when the latter was in trouble, but the new company was named USAir.  Then USAir did the same and effectively bought American Airlines, and the new company is American Airlines.

Companies do this when the branding if the company being purchased is stronger.  Sometimes it is what's called a reverse takeover - that's when A buys B, but B's management retains control over the new entity.  This may be done for a variety of business reasons.

I have a dilemma with programs that have many repeats of old
episodes but still have new episodes. We like to record old episodes of
"Big Bang Theory" to amuse us when nothing else is on. The problem is
that there are so many of them on a few different channels that if not
limited they would soon fill up the DVR.

Limiting my Onepass to 25 episodes prevents the hard drive from
filling up however since I almost always have 25 episodes new episodes
don't get recorded. I'd love to create a second onepass for Big Bang
Theory specifying only new episodes and having no limit.

I don't know if it makes a difference but I have a 4 tuner TiVo Bolt.

            Your thoughts?

hm- i wonder if you delete the current season pass, go to the guide, the new episode and click 'season pass' and set it up for 'new only and select that station only.
then try the guide again, click on a rerun to see if you get the season pass option since it should be a different channel (I'm guessing) to then set up another season pass for 'repeats' for that station only?
              just a guess

                    This.

This is the standard workaround to multiple SeasonPass/OnePass issues - use a OnePass and an Auto-Record Wishlist.  Use the Title of the show and it'll grab repeats.

Suddenly one of the Minis will not connect to my cable MOCA network. It
does not get an IP address.  If I connect the other Mini to the same
cable connection it has no problem connecting to the MOCA network. If I
connect the mini that will not connect to MOCA to an Ethernet connection
it works with no problem.  Unfortunately there is no Ethernet connection
near where either of the Minis are located.

Have you seen similar problems? Is there a solution other than
                                      replacing the Mini?

If I bring the kitchen Mini (not working) to the bedroom it still does not work. If I bring the bedroom Mini (working) to the kitchen it continues to work. I just move the Minis, the power supplies, HDMI cables and cable connections are not moved.
