Bouvier’s Law Dictionary (1856) says that ss means scilicet or that is to say.  Some people contend that the use of ss in a court heading places you under some special jurisdiction & that it should not be used, particularly if you are pre se or pro per before the court.  Does anyone on the forum know what the ss really means?
