      Perhaps no name was in play in advance of the trade deadline as the Rippers'
      Rick Nash. As many as five teams were in the derby until the final bell
      with Rippers co-GMs Capstick and Moynihan, but ultimately the duo decided to
      hold on to the struggling sniper as a core part of the team's surprising run
      to the playoffs.

      Nash responded to the news by posting a natural hat trick in his next
      outing, a Blue Jackets New Year's Eve victory. He clearly is a man hellbent
      on repaying Las Vegas for the vote of confidence.

      In an unrelated story, The Incredible and Remarkable Karri Ramo dropped to
      1-4 in a loss to Toronto.
