As various religious traditions gather to
celebrate in their own ways, for many people
this is a joyous time of year. However, for
many, it is a time of sadness, loneliness and
depression. There are many reasons for this.
Families who have a history of substance abuse
need to be particularly careful to navigate
this period of time which can be very stressful
for some people. There are healthy ways to relieve
      stress and unhealthy ways.

With an extended period of vacation time for teens,
this is also a time for parents to keep a wathcful eye.
Hoping you and your family find healthy ways
to enjoy this time of year. If you have thoughts
or strategies that may be helpful to others,
please post them. I do ask that you avoid writing
about specific religious traditions, but focus more
on healthy ways teens and families can celebrate.
      Take care,
      Bill Lillis
