Join Rafael & Brett-Candace as they talks to Zachary Kluckman

Zachary Kluckman lives in Albuquerque, NM where he is currently serving as Executive Director of the world's first Slam Poet Laureate Program. Recently he founded a gang prevention/drug relapse intervention program using spoken word as a form of therapeutic self-expression to build a community for youth within the legal system who are trying to find safe alternatives. Kluckman is an actor, poet, youth advocate, teacher and performance artist whose recent anthology, “Earthships: A New Mecca Poetry Collection” was a finalist in the NM Book Awards. Other national publications include the New York Quarterly, Memoir (and), Dos Passos Review, The Pedestal and Cutthroat among others. As a respected and highly ranked spoken word artist, his work has been distributed via national radio broadcast in both the USA and Australia as well. Recently he has been nominated for both Best of the Net 2009 and a Pushcart Prize. Internationally his work has been published both in print and audio recordings. As an actor he has appeared in several film and television roles, including the Lost Room, Breaking BadBeerfest, Fanboys, In Plain Sight and more. He has also appeared in several short and independent films. He will soon be taking a new direction with film, scripting a short film in verse that is scheduled to be released in 2010. Currently, he is at work on a novel, a collection of poetry titled The Bone-Fly Files, a rhythm and blues based collection of spoken word recordings and a movie script to be produced this spring. He continues to work as a mentor for young writers and facilitate workshops throughout the nation.
