      Choice

      If my action

      forces a reaction

      Newton’s tug

      or push on gravity

      spiral centripetal orbit

      across the downward

      face of a frown

      equal yet oppositional

      created by the movement

      of electrons out of flux

      joules and neutrons

      ohms and amperes

      against the direct current of

      my stingy disposition

      chain reaction

      splendid fusion

      that glorious burst

I use to greet each day

      when capacitance

      stretches, holds the core kinetic

      through potential resistance,

      I smile forward

      with crinkled eyes and

      protons encircling

      this molten core,

      my atom’s nucleus

      I chose to remain

      always

      positively charged
