Tibetan Buddhist Meditation @ Golden Bridge Yoga, LA, Tues
      Hi Friends,

I wanted to let you all know that Golden Bridge Yoga has now made the class I offered part of their regular weekly schedule! Please come down if you live in the area.

Tibetan Buddhist Meditation - Getting To Know Your Mind
      7:30pm Tuesday nights
In the Tibetan tradition, meditation is the natural process of coming to know your own mind. Through this process you can remove obstacles to Wisdom and develop a deeper experience of your true essence; Timeless Awareness, or Buddhanature. Learning the basics of Tibetan Meditation gives you access to experiences of this pure state, which in turn reduces the poisons of the mind and allows your indwelling positive qualities to emerge.

This class provides useful tools for ANYONE who wants to get a 'handle' on how to meditate in their daily life:

-those with no experience in meditation at all
-those who would like to get more comfortable with their practice
-those who have years of experience meditating but want to refine their practice
-meditators who have not yet explored Tibetan Buddhist meditation

The class will be given through introductory teachings, stories, group practice and Q&A. Particular attention will be paid to familiarizing oneself with the practices of Shi Nay (Shamata - Calm Abiding) and Lhag Tong (Vipassana - Penetrating Insight) and uniting them into a single practice of pure presence.

      About David Scharff
David Scharff has been meditating for 30 years, exploring many of the world's different spiritual traditions. He became a student of Tibetan Buddhism after attending the Kalachakra empowerments given by H.H. the Dalai Lama in NYC in 1991 and found his teacher when he met H.E. the 16th Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche in 1994. Scharff became the center leader for Chagdud Gonpa Orgyen Ling in NYC for two years, then moved to Chagdud Gonpa, the North American seat of Chagdud Tulku. There he received empowerments and teachings on the different levels of Tibetan Buddhism and engaged in retreats to put these teachings into practice for another two years under his root teacher (and Chagdud Tulku's lineage holder) Lama Pema Drimed Norbu. Living in LA since 1999, Scharff has also received empowerments, instructions and done retreats with numerous other lamas of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, including H.E. Namkha Drimed Rinpoche and the Terton Kunzang Dechen Lingpa.
