The Black Snake is a text by the 11th century Dzogchen master
Rongzompa, was one of the most important scholars of the Nyingma
School who, together with Longchenpa and Ju Mipham, is considered one
of the three 'omniscient' writers of the school. This profound
Dzogchen text explains the different ways practitioners perceive
negative thoughts and emotions according to their different
      understandings of reality.

Khenpo Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche is a Nyingma master who studied for
ten years at Larung Gar in eastern Tibet with the great Jigmed
Phuntsok Rinpoche. Jigmed Phuntsok (1933-2004) was a Nyingma lama and
terton from Golog and the most influential lama of the Nyingma
tradition in contemporary Tibet. A renowned teacher of Dzogchen, he
established Larung Gar with approximately 10,000 monks, nuns, and lay
students. Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche attained his Khenpo degree under
the guidance of this great Dzogchen master and developed a special
appreciation for the secret treasures of Guru Rinpoche. He taught in
Nepal for two years before being invited to the United States by
Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche. Renowned for his ability to get to the
heart of the teachings, Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche has a passion for
sharing his knowledge as direct personal experience. He lives in the
San Francisco Bay Area and is the founder and spiritual director of
Atiamrita, an organization dedicated to promoting happiness, inner
      peace, and enlightenment.
