      Fall Programs

E-Vam Institute has some exciting programs in October with two very experienced teachers and practitioners in their respective traditions. Chagdud Khadro, a female teacher of exceptional wisdom and experience from the Nyingma tradition of Chagdud Tulku—and Dr Jim Valby, a Tibetan Buddhist scholar and long-term student of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu and his unique presentation of Dzogchen. We invite you to study within the traditions of these renowned Tibetan masters.

      Chagdud Khadro

      October 1-2

      Cost: $150 (membership discounts apply)

P'howa  means transferring consciousness from one state to another. At the moment of death, the skilful means of the "p'howa of three recognitions" allows us to direct our consciousness out of our body into the exalted state of Amitabha Buddha's pure realm. P'howa ensures we won't die in a state of spiritual uncertainty and drift helplessly in the after-death bardo. It provides a consummate method to help others when they die. Empowerment into Amitabha Buddha - a support of p'howa - will be given.

Chagdud Khadro trained in p'howa extensively under Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche and her teachings have found a receptive audience among Buddhist practitioners and people who work with the dying. She also compiled the teachings of the late master, H. E. Chagdud Rinpoche, into the P'howa Commentary. Since Rinpoche's Parinirvana in November 2002, Khadro has served as the spiritual director of the Chagdud Gonpa centers in Latin America. She lives in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where she teaches and writes. Until March 2012, she is a lama-in-residence at Rigdzin Ling, Chagdud Gonpa's main center in North America.

      Dr Jim Valby
