THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO - April 5, 2002
      by Benjamin F. Elliott
      Vol 5, No 14

Welcome to the weekly guide to Doctor Who on TV.

Thanks to those who gave their kind reactions to the April Fools special
edition of this column on Monday. Eerily enough, some of those fake web
links work. If you didn't see it, and are curious, you can find it online at
      http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thisweekindoctorwho/message/85 .

Also, effective late last weekend, This Week In Doctor Who once again began
to appear on the Outpost Gallifrey website http://www.gallifreyone.com/ .
The week I began writing the column, Siobahn Morgan asked if it could be put
on her Doctor Who Home Page
      http://www.nitro9.earth.uni.edu/doctor/homepage.html and Shaun Lyon asked
for Outpost Gallifrey http://www.gallifreyone.com/ . I am delighted to have
This Week back on the Outpost Gallifrey site after just under a year's
absence. Shaun has some new computer programming technique that I don't
understand which now makes it possible to update the column fast, so he has
the time to include it again.

This Week In Doctor Who is still on Siobahn's stie, and also on the Jason
Fraser's Varos Doctor Who page http://www.varos.com/drwho/uktv/ , the best
Australian fan site out there, along with
http://www.wolvesoffenric.freeserve.co.uk/ , run by Roger Clark. And the
Yahoo Group. And on rec.arts.drwho . So you no longer have any excuses to
      claim you can't find it.

Additions and corrections are welcome at
      thisweekindoctorwho-owner@yahoogroups.com , bfelliott@... ,
bfelliott 3 on AIM, or thebfe on Yahoo Messenger. And now, the listings:

      BBCI http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/death/index.shtml
      "Death Comes To Time"
Episode 4B "No Child Of Earth, pt 2 of 3" now online
Episode 4C goes online 12 April. Use some version of Realplayer to watch or
listen. Starring Sylvester McCoy as the 7th Doctor.

Fri 11PM EST "Interstellar Transmissions" http://www.scifiradioguy.com/
The link from Interstellar Transmissions' site to the web stream uses
Windows Media Player. I don't know if the link from WSBR's web site uses
      Media Player or Real Player.
This week's guest - TJ Lubinsky (Whosaver).
Readers of this column will remember TJ for spearheading Doctor Who's
relaunch on WQED/WQEX Pittsburgh, his sadly unsuccessful attempts at
launching a national feed of Doctor Who for PBS stations in 1998, the
success of the National Doctor Who Night pledge special in 2000, and his
restoration work on the Da Silva extras for the Tom Baker DVDs. A little
before this column's time, he also was responsible for Planet Of The Daleks
episode 3 and Invasion Of The Dinosaurs episode 1 finally becoming available
for broadcast in the US, along with restored versions of The War Machines,
Doctor Who and the Silurians, Terror Of The Autons, and The Daemons, plus
the extended video versions of The Five Doctors and The Curse Of Fenric. The
general public will remember TJ for his incredibly successful Doo Wop
specials on PBS, and the recent syndication of Ed Sullivan and Red Skelton
to PBS stations. This being a sci-fi show, talk will probably focus on TJ's
work in the Doctor Who area.

      Channel 4 http://www.channel4.co.uk/
Tue 1:45-3:15PM BST "Dr. Who And The Daleks" 1965 theatrical movie
Peter Cushing stars as Dr. Who in a colour movie remake of the original
Dalek story during this special matinee broadcast. The Welsh version of
      Channel 4 - S4C - frequently reruns much of Channel 4's programming within a
week of the Channel 4 screening, so people with S4C should keep an eye out
for news about this film rerunning.
