      Christmas 2008:
BBC One - Doctor Who - The Next Doctor

UK - You thought new Doctor Who in the UK was over till Christmas,
right? Well, BBC Radio 7 http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio7 and Big Finish
http://www.doctorwho.co.uk are out to prove you wrong. Paul McGann
returns as The 8th Doctor and Sheridan Smith returns as Lucy Miller
in eight 50 minute full cast radio episodes - Sundays at 6PM and
Midnight UK Time starting 19 October. Paul McGann played the Doctor
in the 1996 TV Movie and in many Big Finish direct to cd audio
stories since 2001. He is the official 8th Doctor, the link between
Sylvester McCoy (7th Doctor in Classic Who - late 1980s) and
      Christopher Eccleston (9th Doctor/New Series 1/2005).

This is actually the second set of Paul McGann audios made for BBC
Radio 7. An earlier set of 8 Paul McGann/Sheridan Smith episodes ran
in late 2006/early 2007. That time the episodes aired on the radio
before getting released on CD. For these new episodes the CD releases
came first, which is why the radio run was delayed a bit. No word on
whether the previous BBC7/Big Finish Doctor Who series is going to
      repeat soon.

USA - BBC America http://www.bbcamerica.com gets their turn at Series
4 of Doctor Who starting Saturday November 8. See their listing to
see what they are doing on the first weekend. Also - has anybody ever
heard of a half-hour Graham Norton Doctor Who special?

Torchwood schedule information is included in the Torchwood This Week
      column http://groups.yahoo.com/group/torchwood .

For press releases on Doctor Who, keep an eye on the BBC Press Office
      http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice and C21 Media

if you are in the Central or Mountain Time Zones, SPACE's broadcasts
of Torchwood are going to overlap with your local CBC's broadcast of
Who. Most satelite subscribers can get multiple feeds of the CBC and
presumably digital cable customers can too. If you want to see both
Doctor Who and Torchwood, use the various CBC feeds to your
advantage. The Torchwood finale is 24 October, marking the end of the
      schedule conflict.

Illusion TV is a service providing science fiction On Demand
programming to cable providers (no deals with satellite companies
yet). If your digital cable service has Illusion TV, all programming
is offered for free with commercials. See the website to determine if
your provider may offer this service. Based on the paucity of
information on the episodes airing, I guess they want you to get the
service before you know what you will be seeing.

      Radio Free Skaro http://radiofreeskaro.wordpress.com
The 3 Canadians get together on Sundays for about an hour or two or
more to discuss the latest in Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Sarah Jane
in a fairly amusing manner. Temporarily doing commentary on Series 4
      episodes.
      Current episode - #104 - Obama-Ha!. Warren's cunning plot to get Sen.
Barack Obama elected the Prime Minister of Canada reaches its climax
with a catchy new jingle. Chris continued to find himself internet-
less in the UK. In the middle of this, a hockey game broke out. In
the middle of that, a commentary on The Poison Sky broke out.
Sunday or Monday - #105 - commentary on The Doctor's Daughter. With
Chris back on the show, can the team finally make peace with this
boundary breaking episode of Doctor Who? Probably not.

Current episode - Episode 1 of a new series of UNIT audios, starring
Nicholas Courtney as Alaistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart (possibly
not as retired as assumed). The rest of the episodes have to be paid

Cliff And Stephanie's Doctor Who Fan Podcast http://www.gspn.tv
Current episode - 14(?) - Review of The Doctor's Daughter and The
      Unicorn And The Wasp (free)
Next episode - probably a review of Silence In The Library and Forest
Of The Dead (paid subscribers only)
Cliff and Stephanie Ravenscraft review Doctor Who episodes when their
busy schedule of podcasts allows time.
GSPN.tv is a network of podcasts on TV shows, daily life, religion,
and other issues that interest the 3 Ravenscrafts. Doctor Who Fan
Podcast becomes one of the pay programs in the network starting with
episode 12. The existing paying audience ranked Doctor Who dead last
in their interests (annoying the hosts who want to do the show but
are living off the revenue from their podcasts). If you subscribe to
their podcasts in order to hear the new Doctor Who episodes, be sure
to alert them that you are doing this. Half the episodes expected to
      be free, half paid.

      Tachyon TV http://www.tachyon-tv.co.uk
Note to Tachyon guys - the brand new episode on iTunes turned out to
be 1.2, an episode made in Fall 2007. Surreal choice. Thought you'd
like to know - especially if you did not tell iTunes to post it.

      MMM Commentaries http://www.mmmcommentaries.com

commentaries on The Invasion Of Time and The Deadly Assassin are
      available.
