The weekly guide to Doctor Who broadcasts worldwide.

Before we begin, a tip of the hat to Shaun Lyon and Outpost
Gallifrey http://www.gallifreyone.com , who has been at the
forefront of Doctor Who news and information online for the past 10
years. Shaun has announced that the News section of Outpost
Gallifrey is being retired, though some other sections (including
the Forum) will continue. Always one of the best Doctor Who news
sites, and the best Doctor Who news site in the 21st Century, it's a
jolt to have it leave us. Thankfully the BBC's Doctor Who site
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho is pretty good these days. But it
just isn't the same. Thanks for all the glorious years of Outpost
Gallifrey as we've known it, and here's looking forward to the

      BBC Three - TORCHWOOD - spinoff series - 22 October? ...

The upcoming new Doctor Who radio stories on BBC 7 starring Paul
      McGann (beginning 31 December 2006):
Blood Of The Daleks (2 episodes)
      Horror Of Glam Rock
      Immortal Beloved
      No More Lies
      Human Resources (2 episodes, Cybermen)

As of press time, it is believed that Torchwood (Doctor Who spinoff
series starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness) will
premiere on Sunday 22 October on BBC Three or in a BBC Three and BBC
One simulcast. The TV listings for 22 October show a To Be Announced
on BBC One and a completely different schedule for BBC Three. The
BBC's Torchwood website is supposed to go live on Thursday 12
October, which should resolve questions on where/when the episodes
are airing. We don't have a location yet - I will guess
http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchwood . There should be much more
information about Torchwood after that time.

This column will not be focusing on Torchwood. I will
begin "Torchwood This Week" next week (probably on Wednesdays,
waiting to see the schedule and if they announce any international
broadcasters besides the CBC). The group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/torchwood will be the home for the
column, with the first few editions also going out on the This Week
In Doctor Who Yahoo Group. We will see how it goes.

CBC http://www.cbc.ca/television viewers in the Atlantic and
Newfoundland time zones missed the beginning of "New Earth" due to
postgame coverage of a Canadian Football League game running long.
They joined in progress. All other time zones got New Earth in full.
No one is expecting a repeat for the viewers who missed part of the

UK's BBC Three http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree is doing a repeat run
of the new Doctor Who. BBC Three airs Series 2 weeknights at 7PM BST
through 18 October. No confirmation on the premiere date for spinoff
series Torchwood yet, which will premiere on this channel. Some
people are reporting Sunday 22 October at 10PM BST - hopefully we
      will know soon.

UKTV Gold is launching their repeat run of Series 2 on Monday 23
October. The 13 regular episodes (The Christmas Invasion is omitted)
air over 6 nights, starting at 7PM each night. Episodes repeat the
next day at 3PM (6PM on 29 October). UKTV Gold airs the Paul McGann
TV Movie this Sunday at 7:15AM and Monday 23 October at 3:20PM. UKTV
Gold will start airing movie repeats of Classic Doctor Who again
starting Wednesday 1 November at 7:05AM GMT. Genesis Of The Daleks
airs from 1 to 3 November, and then Jon Pertwee stories air in
random order. Stories air Saturdays and Sundays in early morning,
with a limited weekday run through Monday 13 November. All times 1
hour later on UKTV Gold + 1.

The BBC Press Office http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice and C21 Media
http://www.c21media.net often announce when a Doctor Who
international sale occurs. Worth keeping an eye on, just in case.
