A day late, and probably a loonie or two short...

It seems that being away from my computer and thusly the internet over
the Memorial Day weekend has put an adverse effect on the submission of
this week's column in a timely fashion. Oh well, no matter for I've
pretty much covered some of this week's announcements in an earlier
supplemental edition of This Week in Doctor Who. For those that may
have missed out on the supplemental from a couple of days ago, I will be
going over the topics again farther down in this introduction.
Unfortunately, no overnight ratings report this week for last week's
episode, "The Idiot's Lantern", as shown on BBC One due to time
constraints. This information can be obtained from the Outpost
Gallifrey news page over at http://www.gallifreyone.com

Doctor Who Series 1 (Season 27) with Christopher Eccleston has returned
      to Canadian
broadcast TV this week. Episodes dubbed into French are shown on Ztélé
-- http://www.ztele.com -- on Tuesdays at 8PM. There are same week
repeats for scheduled for Saturday mornings at 8AM and late Sundays at
3AM. Also on the same channel, the 1996 TV movie with Paul McGann will
make an appearance this Saturday at 10PM with a repeat broadcast the
following day on Sunday at 2PM. I believe this is the first time the TV
movie will be shown on a exclusively Canadian broadcaster.

A relatively new US-based internet to TV DVR service called Akimbo which
requires its own special hardware and media center setup. Currently,
they offer some programming including Doctor Who, with various complete
series in episodic format, via their service at this time. It's
probably worth looking into, if you want to integate your TV/sound setup
with an internet DVR service. More info can be found at
      http://www.akimbo.com and
      http://my.akimbo.com/browse_category.aspx?cid=7d989c2ac3d470b8

Also of note for European viewers of series 1 of Doctor Who (Ki Vagy,
Doki?), Cool TV -- http://www.cooltv.hu -- in Hungary is currently
airing a repeat run on Fridays at 10:15PM CET. This week's episode is
"The Unquiet Dead". Dutch broadcaster, Nederland 3, is set to begin
airing series 1 on Saturday 10 June at 7PM CET. Ned3 will probably air
the series with subtitles or dubbed into Dutch.

Spain & Portugal Doctor Who fans will get to see the last three episodes
of Series One - eventually. Digital Plus channel People + Arts finishes
its repeat of the first 10 episodes on the weekend of 1 through 4
June. Starting 4 June, episodes will repeat at 1:30AM most nights
beginning with "Rose". "Boom Town" ("La alcaldesa de Cardiff" -> "The
Mayoress of Cardiff") will air at 1:30AM late Sunday 18 June. "Bad
Wolf" will air at 1:30AM late Monday 19 June. "The Parting of the Ways"
      ("La despedida" -> "The
Goodbye") will air at 1:30AM late Tuesday 20 June. The series will
begin repeating again on 21 June. I don't know why they skipped these
last three episodesthe first two times they aired the series.

      SciFi -- http://www.scifi.com -- in the US will have a mini-marathon of
Doctor Who episodes of on Friday, June 16th, the week after "The Parting
of the Ways" airs on the channel. The marathon is from 8PM to 3AM
Eastern, and consists of four episodes, three of them airing twice.
      8PM & Midnight - Aliens of London
      9PM & 1AM - World War Three
      10PM & 2AM - Dalek
11PM only - The Long Game
Marathons of other sci-fi shows air on June 23rd and 30th. Doctor Who
will probably not repeat on Fridays due to the start of a new season on
SciFi Friday programming in July -- schedule information for July is
now available albeit somewhat incomplete. "Fathers Day" will be
repeated on Sci Fi on Sunday June 25th @ 11PM EDT, but the next
scheduled airing of Doctor Who is currently tentatvively indicated as
being on July 16th @ 11PM with a subsequent Sunday airing the following
week at the same time. No other broadcasts seem to be scheduled
afterwards, but it seems to be subject to change so stay tuned.

As of this writing, no broadcasters outside the UK have confirmed the
dates when Series Two will begin airing. It will air around the world
      -- but patience is needed.

      The BBC Press Office -- http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice -- and C21
Media -- http://www.c21media.net -- often announce when a Doctor Who
international sale occurs. Worth keeping an eye on, just in case.

That's mostly it from me; Benjamin will be back to editing the column
next week. Any comments or corrections be sent via e-mail to
thisweekindoctorwho-owner@yahoogroups.com , TWIDW on AOL IM , and thebfe on

A day late, and probably a loonie or two short...

It seems that being away from my computer and thusly
the internet over the Memorial Day weekend has put an
adverse effect on the submission of this week's column
in a timely fashion. Oh well, no matter for I've
pretty much covered some of this week's announcements
in an earlier supplemental edition of This Week in
Doctor Who. For those that may have missed out on the
supplemental from a couple of days ago, I will be
going over the topics again farther down in this
        introduction. Unfortunately, no overnight ratings
report this week for last week's episode, "The Idiot's
Lantern", as shown on BBC One due to time constraints.
This information can be obtained from the Outpost
        Gallifrey news page over at
        http://www.gallifreyone.com

Doctor Who Series 1 (Season 27) with Christopher
        Eccleston has returned to Canadian
broadcast TV this week. Episodes dubbed into French
are shown on Ztélé -- http://www.ztele.com -- on
Tuesdays at 8PM. There are same week repeats for
scheduled for Saturday mornings at 8AM and late
Sundays at 3AM. Also on the same channel, the 1996 TV
movie with Paul McGann will make an appearance this
Saturday at 10PM with a repeat broadcast the following
day on Sunday at 2PM. I believe this is the first
time the TV movie will be shown on a exclusively
        Canadian broadcaster.

A relatively new US-based internet to TV DVR service
called Akimbo which requires its own special hardware
and media center setup. Currently, they offer some
programming including Doctor Who, with various
complete series in episodic format, via their service
at this time. It's probably worth looking into, if
you want to integate your TV/sound setup with an
internet DVR service. More info can be found at
        http://www.akimbo.com and
        http://my.akimbo.com/browse_category.aspx?cid=7d989c2ac3d470b8

Also of note for European viewers of series 1 of
Doctor Who (Ki Vagy, Doki?), Cool TV --
http://www.cooltv.hu -- in Hungary is currently airing
a repeat run on Fridays at 10:15PM CET. This week's
episode is "The Unquiet Dead". Dutch broadcaster,
Nederland 3, is set to begin airing series 1 on
Saturday 10 June at 7PM CET. Ned3 will probably air
the series with subtitles or dubbed into Dutch.

Spain & Portugal Doctor Who fans will get to see the
last three episodes of Series One - eventually.
Digital Plus channel People + Arts finishes its repeat
of the first 10 episodes on the weekend of 1 through 4
June. Starting 4 June, episodes will repeat at
1:30AM most nights beginning with "Rose". "Boom Town"
("La alcaldesa de Cardiff" -> "The Mayoress of
Cardiff") will air at 1:30AM late Sunday 18 June.
"Bad Wolf" will air at 1:30AM late Monday 19 June.
"The Parting of the Ways" ("La despedida" -> "The
Goodbye") will air at 1:30AM late Tuesday 20 June.
The series will begin repeating again on 21 June. I
don't know why they skipped these last three
episodesthe first two times they aired the series.

SciFi -- http://www.scifi.com -- in the US will have a
mini-marathon of Doctor Who episodes of on Friday,
June 16th, the week after "The Parting of the Ways"
airs on the channel. The marathon is from 8PM to 3AM
Eastern, and consists of four episodes, three of them
        airing twice.
        8PM & Midnight - Aliens of London
        9PM & 1AM - World War Three
        10PM & 2AM - Dalek
11PM only - The Long Game
Marathons of other sci-fi shows air on June 23rd and
30th. Doctor Who will probably not repeat on Fridays
due to the start of a new season on SciFi Friday
programming in July -- schedule information for July
is now available albeit somewhat incomplete. "Fathers
Day" will be repeated on Sci Fi on Sunday June 25th @
11PM EDT, but the next scheduled airing of Doctor Who
is currently tentatvively indicated as being on July
        16th @ 11PM with a subsequent Sunday airing the
following week at the same time. No other broadcasts
seem to be scheduled afterwards, but it seems to be
subject to change so stay tuned.

As of this writing, no broadcasters outside the UK
have confirmed the dates when Series Two will begin
airing. It will air around the world -- but patience
        is needed.

        The BBC Press Office --
        http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice -- and C21 Media --
        http://www.c21media.net -- often announce when a
Doctor Who international sale occurs. Worth keeping
an eye on, just in case.

That's mostly it from me; Benjamin will be back to
editing the column next week. Any comments or
corrections be sent via e-mail to
