THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO - June 30, 2004

The weekly guide to Doctor Who broadcasts around the world.

Reminder - Tom Baker stories return on Canadian digital
satellite/cable channel BBC Kids http://www.bbckids.ca on Monday 5
July. BBC Kids will jump out of the Peter Davison stories mid-run
like they did with Tom Baker a few months back to go to Peter
Davison. Doctor Who remains at 1 and 3:30AM EDT 7 days a week.

The US Starz! Channel suite http://www.starz.com aired the 1996
Doctor Who TV Movie multiple times in June on the Mystery and
Movieplex channels. No airings are scheduled for July, but the page
      for the movie
      http://www.starz.com/se/ssp/schedule/grid_titleview.html?v=732206&e=-
1&z=0 now says "Coming soon", implying that future airings can be
      expected in August or later.

The Futon Critic http://www.thefutoncritic.com reports that the
Television Critics Association (TCA) has scheduled the cable portion
of their Summer Press Tour for July 21 through July 23. Most of the
US cable networks will be announcing their future projects during
these three days. My suspicion is - IF and ONLY IF a cable network
has acquired the US TV rights to the upcoming Doctor Who series
before the start of the tour, the network would probably announce it
during this tour. I'm personally dubious that any network will have
signed on to the series by that point, but no doubt many of us will
pay attention to that tour just in case.
