THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO - February 18, 2004
      by Benjamin F. Elliott
      Vol 7, No 7

Top story this week comes from the BBC's Doctor Who website
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho . BBCi has been asked to
postpone making further Doctor Who webcasts. For the past couple of
years, BBCi has been making original audio Doctor Who stories with
illustrations - Death Comes To Time, Real Time, and a remake of
Shada. Most recently BBCi produced The Scream Of The Shalka, a fully
animated story featuring Richard E. Grant as a new Doctor. Quoting
      from BBCi's report:

"Initially, the people behind the new series were keen for the
animated adventures to continue in the run-up to the Doctor's return
to TV, but recent developments have made that impossible. The
reasons for this are all Very Good, one of them is Terribly
Exciting... and we hope they'll become apparent in the next few

      To be continued, I guess.

Iowa Public TV http://www.iptv.org will air the BBV documentary The
Doctors: 30 Years Of Time Travel And Beyond on Saturday March 13 at
11:45PM CST as the pledge special for Festival. I'm confident that
this special has not aired on TV since 1998 - has it ever aired on

The South African Sci-Fi Channel is airing SF: UK - Trips Through
Time And Space Monday 8 March at 11:05AM. Matthew De Abaitua takes a
look at 60s Doctor Who, the age of psychedelic sci-fi.

Dish Network http://www.dishnetwork.com customers in the Quad Cities
region of Iowa & Illinois (Davenport, IA; Burlington, IA; Rock
Island, IL; Moline, IL) will have the option of subscribing to their
local channels through Dish as of February 19th, including Doctor
Who affiliate KQIN 36 of Iowa Public TV http://www.iptv.org . The
Quad Cities locals require a Superdish installation. If you're
interested in seeing KQIN via Dish Network, you should probably find
out the details about Superdish first. Http://www.dbstalk.com ,
      http://www.dbsforums.com , and http://www.satelliteguys.us should
      fill in the details.
