The 40th anniversary of Doctor Who moves closer, and more TV plans
      to celebrate reveal themselves.

Iowa Public TV has sent out a press release regarding their BBV
night on Saturday September 27th. It includes some new interesting
      details.

"Calling All DOCTOR WHO and SCI-FI SATURDAY NIGHT fans!
"Iowa Public Television needs your help to answer phones and take
pledges during our "Doctor Who Celebration" THIS SATURDAY, September
27th from 9 p.m. to midnight. We need at least 13 more fans to come
to IPTV's studio in Johnston THIS SATURDAY NIGHT. You'll be
supporting Iowa Public Television's ability to remain one of a
handful of public broadcasters airing Doctor Who. And you'll have
the first opportunities to pledge your support and receive tickets
to IPTV's Special Event with Colin Baker. (see below) . If you're
able to help, please call Darla at 800-728-2828 as soon as possible
      or email darla@...
IPTV's "Doctor Who Celebration" is part of our "September
Celebration" pledge drive, from the 25th thru the 28th. This
Saturday, the 27th we will begin pledging for "SCI-FI SATURDAY
NIGHT" earlier than ever before - 9 pm! AND, IPTV will be airing the
worldwide premiere of 2 NEW Doctor Who productions! "The Airzone
Solution", starring four of the actors who have played Doctor Who,
will be following by "Auton", a new UNIT adventure. AND we have a
Thank You Gift to offer, the likes of which we never have before:
TICKETS to a very special IPTV Event with Colin Baker, the sixth
Doctor. This special event will be Friday, December 5th, from 8-11
p.m. at the Des Moines Botanical Center. We're planning some great
activities for this event, including contests like: "The Great
Doctor Who Look-A-Like Contest", with a "Best Costume Contest", and
of course a "Know Your Who Mythology Contest". A scavenger hunt and
other fun stuff is in the planning. One ticket to the IPTV Event
with Colin Baker will be offered as a Thank You Gift when viewers
pledge their support of $100. Two event tickets will be available
      for a pledge of $150.
So PLEASE help us spread the word, and COME to northwest
metropolitan Des Moines, JOHNSTON IOWA, to help Iowa Public
Television make this potentially record breaking pledge drive for
IPTV's "SCI-FI SATURDAY NIGHT" a real success. Thanks for your
      consideration!

Doctor Who may be returning to New Zealand in the next few months.
Sky TV in New Zealand is launching a UKTV Channel on 1 November,
which promises to be better than the earlier UKTV they had in the
1990s. It will be airing British programming from most of the major
UK broadcasters. People who have seen the list of programs on the
docket to air at launch or down the line report that Doctor Who is
on the list. Doctor Who is currently *not* scheduled to air on this
new UKTV in November. The situation can be followed at the New
Zealand Doctor Who Fan Club http://nzdwfc.tetrap.com .

Canadian Doctor Who fans get a 40th anniversary marathon from BBC

Shortly after last week's edition went to press, it was learned that
KERA 13 Dallas, TX has officially discontinued Doctor Who for the
rest of 2003, possibly beyond. Budget issues and the merger of KDTN
2 and KERA 13 into one channel are the listed reasons.

Doctor Who is missing from WSKG 46 Binghamton, NY's
http://www.wskg.com schedule for the next few weeks. Does anyone in
that portion of Southern New York/ Northern Pennsylvania know if
this is a temporary or permanent situation?

I'm evaluating the current layout of the column, so you may see a
few aspects get tweaked or moved around over the next few weeks.
      Pardon any dust.
