As Doctor Who's 40th anniversary nears, we'll try to have the rundown
on special programming that various stations may do to celebrate.

Richard E. Grant (Withnail & I, 10th Doctor in The Curse Of Fatal
Death) will be the BBC's official Ninth Doctor in a fully animated
webcast on BBCi's website in November, the month of Doctor Who's 40th
anniversary. Check out http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho/ for more
      details.

Hot on the heels of KTEH's http://www.kteh.org/ presentation of BBV
stories, Iowa Public TV http://www.iptv.org/ will be the 2nd US
broadcaster to present BBV to the USA as a Doctor Who Celebration.
The Airzone Solution (1993 eco-thriller starring Jon Pertwee, Peter
Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy) and Auton (1997 drama
starring the Autons & UNIT) will air on Saturday September 27 at 9PM
CDT for everyone who gets Iowa Public TV. According to the Sci-Fi
Saturday Website http://www.sffn.com/ , IPTV is looking for phone
volunteers for that night from 9PM to Midnight. Contact Darla
Hassebroek @ Friends Of IPTV 1-515-242-5406 or darla@... and try
to mention Airzone Solution & Auton.

UK Gold http://www.ukgold.tv/ announced the results of their first
round of voting for the Doctor Who @ 40 weekend of 22 and 23
November, and the second round of voting continues on their website.
The finalist stories for each Doctor to choose from:
1st - An Unearthly Child, The Time Meddler, The War Machines
2nd - The Tomb Of The Cybermen, The Mind Robber, The War Games
3rd - Inferno, The Daemons, The Sea Devils
4th - Robot, Pyramids Of Mars, City Of Death
5th - Earthshock, Mawdryn Undead, The Caves Of Androzani
6th - Attack Of The Cybermen, The Mark Of The Rani, The Two Doctors
7th - Dragonfire, Silver Nemesis, The Curse Of Fenric
UK Gold will have original material including interviews with cast
members & fans, along with behind the scenes footage. The Curse Of
Fatal Death, The Three Doctors, and The Five Doctors will definitely
      air.

Two additional channels in Australia are getting on the 40th
anniversary bandwagon. Encore (pay movie channel) will present the
1996 Doctor Who TV Movie commercial free on 10 September and 14
September). UKTV (which ran Doctor Who from 1996 to 2002) will have a
special Doctor Who day (weekend?) on 11 October with a best of Who
marathon (stories in the Australian section below). UKTV also wants
viewers to tune in at 8:30PM AEDT on Sunday 23 November for something
not revealed as of this time. Encore and UKTV air programming at the
same time nationwide if you have cable, but adjust for time zone
differences on satellite. ABC Australia, of course, begins a run of
Doctor Who stories on Monday 15 September at 6PM, 4 days a week, and
its programming will air at the same time in all time zones
regardless of how you watch it.

Upcoming airings of the 1996 Doctor Who TV Movie:
Wednesday 10 September 5:20PM Encore Australia
      Wednesday 10 September 8 to 9:35PM UK Sci-Fi Channel
Sunday 14 September 7:50AM Encore Australia
      Sunday 14 September 2 to 3:35PM UK Sci-Fi Channel
      Monday 15 September 11AM to 12:35PM UK Sci-Fi Channel
Late Wednesday October 8 3AM EDT US Sci-Fi Channel
Saturday 11 October ? UKTV Australia
Saturday 25 October Noon to 1:35PM UK Sci-Fi Channel

While I try to keep the column up to date, I do sometimes miss late
changes to schedules. If you see TWIDW's information getting out of
synch with what your local station is actually airing, let me know
      ASAP.

Additions and corrections are welcome at thisweekindoctorwho-
