THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO - November 6, 2002
      by Benjamin F. Elliott
      Vol 5, No 45

Welcome to the weekly guide to Doctor Who broadcasts around the world.

Some extra airings of the Doctor Who TV Movie have popped up in December.

Sci-Fi Channel (South Africa) http://www.uk.scifi.com/ airings of the 1996
      Doctor Who Movie:
      Fri 27 December 6:30-8PM CAT
      Sun 29 December 1:20-2:50PM CAT
      Tue 31 December 5-6:30PM CAT

Sci-Fi Channel (UK) http://www.uk.scifi.com/ airing of the 1996 Doctor Who
      Thu 26 December 8-9:40PM GMT

Sci-Fi Channel (US) http://www.scifi.com/ airing of the 1996 Doctor Who
EAST & SATELLITE FEED - Late Sun December 15 3-5AM EST
WEST FEED - Late Sun December 15 3-5AM PST

      KBTC/KCKA/K65BU 28,15,65 Tacoma/Centralia/Gray's River, WA
http://www.kbtc.org/ will have its semi-annual Doctor Who pledge drive on
December 7th to help raise money for Doctor Who and other sci-fi shows. This
time they'll be toasting the Daleks with The Dalek Invasion Of Earth as the
main feature. Their pledge goal is $15,000, though they're willing to accept

Iowa Public TV http://www.iptv.org/ has announced plans to have a special
pledge night for its sci-fi programming on December 7th. Only the sci-fi
programming will be pledged. Red Dwarf is already renewed for 2003-2004. In
an interesting twist, they are handling other sci-fi shows (including Doctor
Who) the way the show Survivor handles contestants. When people pledge on
December 7th, they'll be asked to vote for a sci-fi program (Doctor Who, The
Prisoner, sci-fi movies). Be warned. You are voting for the show that you
want IPTV *not* to air in 2003-2004. More details at the fan site
      http://www.sffn.com/ .

      KTEH/KCAH 54,25 San Jose/Watsonville, CA http://www.kteh.org/ is having its
own prime-time Doctor Who night on Sunday, November 24th, with selected Tom
Baker episodes. If more Doctor Who pledge drives pop up in the next few
weeks, TWIDW will keep you apprised of them.

WCNY 24 Syracuse, NY http://www.wcny.org/ is indicating through the
schedules on their website that their digital channel WCNY-DT 25 is now on
the air, although they do not explicitly say that it is on the air. WYBE-DT
34 Philadelphia, PA may be going on the air November 15th, as that is the
current date for a "digital launch" ceremony at WYBE. Full power
non-commercial stations in the US are currently required to get their
digital stations on the air by May 1, 2003. At the present time, all of the
stations in the US airing Doctor Who (apart from Sci-Fi with the 1996 Movie)
      are non-commercial.

UK Gold skipped The Five Doctors this past weekend, in spite of what was
      listed in TWIDW.

While I try to keep the column up to date, I do sometimes miss late changes
to schedules. If you see TWIDW's information getting out of synch with what
your local station is actually airing, let me know ASAP.

Additions and corrections are welcome at
      thisweekindoctorwho-owner@yahoogroups.com , bfelliott@... ,
bfelliott3 on AOL IM, or thebfe on Yahoo Messenger. And now, the listings:

"Real Time" - Firstrun Doctor Who Audio Drama. Colin Baker, Cybermen.
6 episode story produced by Big Finish. Illustrations by Lee Sullivan for
fans with fast internet connections. Requires version of RealPlayer to

      Fri 7PM EST "Interstellar Transmissions"
WWNN AM1470 Pompano Beach/Boca Raton, FL (Miami/West Palm Beach, FL)
Joey Reynolds' weekly radio show for sci-fi news and interviews, which can
usually be heard online worldwide. WBYU AM1450 in New Orleans has been
listed as a channel for the show in the past, but with the format flip to
Radio Disney earlier this week it is unlikely that the show is still airing
there. Doctor Who news usually discussed during the broadcast. Lalla Ward
(Romana) is listed for November 22nd, as is Lars Pearson, the author of "I
      Who, 3".
