THIS WEEK IN DOCTOR WHO - December 3, 2003
      by Benjamin F. Elliott
      Vol 6, No 49

BBC1 http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone has scheduled "The Story Of Doctor
Who", the 40th anniversary documentary, to air on Tuesday 30
December at 6:30PM GMT, as part of the Christmas programming. No
rebroadcasts or airings in other countries have been announced at
      this time.

BBCi http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho has announced that the
Shada webcast is being taken offline as of 8 December due to the
upcoming CD release. If you're like myself, you may have intended to
watch/listen to this story for months, and never gotten around to
doing it. Well, after Monday, your chance to see the story with the
illustrations will be gone, at least for the time being. Shada is
expected to be back online in mid 2004.

For any UK fans who missed the previous announcements, UK Gold
http://www.ukgold.tv has discontinued the 6PM weekday run of Tom
Baker stories following the 2 December airing of the conclusion of
Logopolis. The Saturday and Sunday morning Doctor Who movies
continue, though Doctor Who will not air on the weekend of December
      27 and 28.

KBTC Tacoma, WA http://www.kbtc.org and Iowa Public TV
      http://www.iptv.org are celebrating Doctor Who's 40th anniversary
with pledge specials. See below for details.

"The Scream Of The Shalka" - episode 3 online now, episode 4
premieres Thursday 4 December. Fully animated in Flash format. The
Ninth Doctor is a haunted alien. Something happened to him. Now he
dreads the thought of visiting Earth, of fighting evil, of caring
about people. Unfortunately, a Shalka invasion fleet has a base in
rural England, and the Doctor has no choice but to intervene one
more time. Richard E. Grant is The Doctor. What's left of him,
      older online dramas:

"Shada" - starring Paul McGann and Lalla Ward. Douglas Adams' script
is remade as an illustrated audio tale for the 8th Doctor. The 8th
Doctor suspects that he and Romana failed to take part in events in
Cambridge 1979 that they were supposed to witness. Professor
Chronotis wanted their help to return a book to Gallifrey before
evil forces can steal it. In this case, the evil force is a
scientist named Skagra who wants the book to locate the infamous
Saliavin. This 6 episode webcast is going offline on 8 December so
the CD release of this story can have an exclusive window. Shada
will go back online in June 2004, and BBCi has the rights to the
      webcast until 2008.

"Real Time" - starring Colin Baker and the Cybermen. 6 episode
illustrated audio tale. The 6th Doctor and Evelyn Smythe research a
temple that has been yanking scientists out of time. The secrets of
the temple threaten the future and past of two species. Viewer
discretion advised for the illustrations of episodes 4 through 6.
