AN FF SUMMER (NEW REYNOLS LP + MORE!)
- NEW RELEASES-
REYNOLS - BARBATRULOS LP $10
"The appearance of a new language invariably brings with it more distress
than most people care to admit. The implication that extant tongues have
failed to evolve apace with the collective consciousness; the inscrutable
nature of the as-yet-unassimilated; and good old fashioned resentment of
the unknown -- admittedly, the kaleidoscope of alienation on offer could
blind even the most resolutely lupine culture czar. Because it is in fact
spontaneously invented language that Reynols uses, one hears distilled
intonation, phonemes from the intersection of drummer/vocalist Tomasin
Miguel's verbal laboratory, and glorious field recordings from a
ghost world evoked by the twin homemade guitars of Anla Courtis and
Conlazo. A litmus test for the interpretive pioneer.
Within _Barbatrulos_, as with Ives's _The Unanswered Question_,
what Thomas Willis calls "economic and evocative cosmic landscapes":
_Experimente_-style improvisations that gently suffocate like a passive
sodomite's sweaty peniculus blocking the light, the air, the sound,
everything. Further contributing to the Reynols total eclipse of the
outside world is the Argentinean trio's ability to create beautiful
which rival "Helen Said This" and might be regarded as equally "epic"
it not for their modest duration, alongside truncated chants that elevate
the passions to states of prepared-fidelity euphoria."
-Seymour Glass, Bananafish April 2000
Pressed at RTI in an edition of 500, beautiful glossy card cover,

MILOVAN SRDENOVIC - COLOUR THESE BEARS LP $10
"One can scarcely imagine anything short of celibacy that Milovan
would not do. Take a good look at the leader of Smell & Quim (the
understandably revered Yorkshire noise duo who, as Fred Rinne of the
Patchchords observed, "are far heavier than Ted Nugent's immigration
policies") and you'll see a shining boy-monk who doesn't know the meaning
of the words "stop fucking." Taking a break from S&Q's admirable devotion
to high-sauce dissonance and deviance overload, Srdenovic, for his second
full-length effort, instead reinvents himself as a sort of long lost
Brother who never, ever, gets discussed -- one with a cinematic phrasing
fixation and a diverse palette of instrumentation, toys, loops, tape
manipulation and samples. Sredenovic's marble-mouthed tracheotomy
vocalizations -- as delightfully scatological as anything by Rev. Dwight
Frizzell -- and LAFMS-style kitchen-doink fracturama are virtually
indistinguishable from the kind of thing that'd go for $750 simply
it dates from Pasadena 1972 and no one knows what happened to the guy who
made it. You're getting a deal. Hoard."
Pressed at RTI in an edition of 300, painful sadistic crayon-colouring
job on cover,
record sticker and insert. No poster.

TOM ATO - I WANDERED LONELY AS A PSYCHOPATH C64 $3
UT ZILKO & THE AMAZING ZEN GUITAR - THIS IS THE AMAZING UT ZILKO C64 $3
Both are strange, STRANGE tapes received from Milovan Srdenovic. We
little or no information regarding them. What we do know- TOM ATO is a
dead (suicide) crazy old man who used to live by Srdenovic. This tape is
one hour of
crazy man head spew. Sounds? Crazy old British man mumbling, singing
incoherently and clapping his hands. The UT ZILKO tape dates from 1980
and we know
nothing about it. The sound? Again, we are of no help, it defies a
singular or descriptive
