"WBC's gospel message ("Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with
womankind; it is abomination" - Lev. 18:22) is America's only hope.
We're determined the nation shall hear. God's command: "Cry aloud,
spare not, lift thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their
transgression." Isa. 58:1. 'Show' means Get in their faces; make it
crystal clear. America's transgression - SIN - is that of ancient
      Sodom: societal acceptance/respect for a soul-damning, nation-dooming
      'gay' lifestyle."

[1] "01..05" on Optical Sound <www.optical-sound.com>. This label has
come out with an incredibly interesting catalog that goes scape and
ant-zen one step better. These are often multi-media projects
involving sound and you get the feeling that a lot of this has filled
galleries and has challenged ears in strange unlikely spaces.

[2] "Petits Big Bangs" on Empreintes Digitales
<www.empreintesdigitales.com>. Crappy format = it comes on DVD thus
unplayable in standard CD players [at the station] so I have to burn
an audio copy to play at the station. A solid disc from the label
that gave you that electro-acoustic woooosh-vwhoppp-scrsssh sound of
traveling through space not yet fully verifiable. Music designed for
      various installations.

[3] "Friday Morning Everywhere" on Whi Music <www.whi-music.co.uk>.
In a previous review I wrote 'Is inscrutability a form of
non-conformist resistance?' This was Phil's response: "funny thing,
but on 'friday morning everywhere', i was deliberately being more
mainstream. so either you're not as wacky as you'd like to think, or
i'm odder than i realise...' I just fail to see anything mainstream
here. And this is NOT a put down regardless of their intent. I think
to me mainstream means comfortable and easy listening which means
that each sound, that each lick, that each rhythm is familiar and
digestible. And this strikes me as music that means to do battle with
      pop fundamentalisms... Bon courage.

[4] "Saint and Blurry" on Hannibal. I performed with Hegley at the
Amsterdam Literary Festival. Well, not exactly: I lectured on
yodeling and played a rapid-fire 80 samples of yodeling in a matter
of a short while. Meanwhile, Hegley came late, after my reading and
did a wonderful set that reminded me of a younger Earl Okin. He did
not mind the comparison or something in the subject matter area of
Jonathan Richman - in that his poems seem deceptively simple, light,
trivial even and deal with matters that are fundamental and
child-like and thus begin to gain a certain gravity despite their
[5] "Symphony no. 6 in F Major (Pastorale)" on ARC Records, vinyl.
Beethoven was so fixated on nature and herders yodeling and streams
gurgling that he sometimes would go for long walks in the woods and
lay on his stomach and put his ear down to a creek to hear it
      gurgling by.

[6] "The New American Credo" on Folkways vinyl. Excellent persnickety
critique of prejudice, presumption, cliché, generalization and other
ways of blinding oneself to the finer details of life [in America].

[7] "Trilogie d'Ondes" on Empreintes Digitales
<www.empreintesdigitales.com>. Ditto on that elegant useless format.
Who wants to look at static visual images of album cover like art on
the computer screen in a DVD format? People just want to play the CD.
Complex conception and interesting liner notes help frame this
electro-acoustic music. On this piece the electro ondes or waves
trigger prerecorded "sound elements that are juxtaposed with the
ondist's playing. Through the ondes' various interventions, the Š
themes are translated into something more closely related to
travelling." Is an ondist a wave plyaer/creator.

[8] "Upstairs at Eric's" on Mute vinyl, 1982. Pop with that edge
between joyous mindless and anxiety about the loss of all hope and
      innocence with style.

[9] "More Violent Days are to Come" on Optical
Sound<www.optical-sound.com>. Very interesting material. In my tops
      for 2007. More later.

[10] "La Bamba" on Philips vinyl. Those wacky South Americans
entertain the hell out of these standards and there's a guy in the
photo playing harp. My daughter wants to play harp. Why is it that
98% of all harpists are women. He's playing a smaller more portable
harp that you also see in parades in Latin America.

[11] "Men Behind the Sun" on Spanish Magic
<www.myspace.com/spanishmagic>. The Shaggs on ESP Records? The peach
fuzz inscrutables. The NY noise regurgitators? Receive noise and ye
shall shove it back into the crowded agore and make us digest the
      seemingly unsavory and undigestibleŠ

[12] "At Ruta Maya Café, Austin, Texas" on BVHaast <www.bvhaast.com>.
Interesting live recording by the mad improv genius who manages to
mix improv and preconceived concepts and old familiar themes
effortlessly in compositions that evade easy definition.

[13] "Double Album" on Az vinyl. Never has a group or single
musician, Thijs van Leer been so haunted by his/their pretensions to
high culture. Never has a musician so wanted to shuck off a great
pope [yodel] hit [Hocus Pocus] and be taken seriously and done so
much in an effort to be taken seriously only to be forever ignored by
everyone that matters - and often rightfully so. This is prog-rock
classical at its ponderously painful low point. And despite that you
comb the tracks for glints of interest almost totally fruitlesslyŠ

      [14] Cool.

o Man Jailed For Oral Sex Is Ordered Released By Shannon McCaffrey,
AP, June 12, 2007: A Georgia judge on Monday ordered the release of a
man sentenced to 10 years in prison for consensual oral sex with a
15-year-old girl when he was 17, a sentence that had been widely
criticized as grossly disproportionate to the crime. State Attorney
General Thurbert Baker appealed the ruling, arguing that Georgia law
does not give a judge authority to reduce or modify a sentence
imposed by a trial court. He said he would seek an expedited ruling
from the state's Supreme Court. Genarlow Wilson, now 21, will not be
released from prison until the Department of Corrections receives
guidance from the state attorney general's office or from the court
that sentenced him, corrections spokeswoman Tracy J. Smith said.
Wilson's case became a cause celebre, with some supporters, including
former president Jimmy Carter, saying that it raised questions about
race and the criminal justice system. Wilson and the girl are black.
Georgia lawmakers subsequently voted to close the loophole that led
to Wilson's mandatory 10-year term. But the state's top court said
the new law could not be applied retroactively. Judge Thomas H.
Wilson threw out the sentence for aggravated child molestation and
amended it to misdemeanor aggravated child molestation, with a
12-month sentence and credit for time served. Genarlow Wilson (no
relation to the judge) would not be required to register as a sex

"The fact that Genarlow Wilson has spent two years in prison for what
is now classified as a misdemeanor, and without assistance from this
Court, will spend eight more years in prison, is a grave miscarriage
of justice," Judge Wilson wrote. Genarlow Wilson's attorney, B.J.
Bernstein, said she plans to apply for a bond to release him while
the appeal is pending. "It is extremely, extremely disturbing that
the attorney general would take this action now," she said. "In
essence, the attorney general is saying, 'Keep Genarlow Wilson in
prison for 10 years and keep him on the sex-offender registry.' "
Wilson was an honor student and his high school's homecoming king. He
had oral sex with the 15-year-old during a 2003 New Year's Eve party
that involved alcohol and marijuana. At the time of his crime, Wilson
would have faced one year in prison if he had had sexual intercourse
      with the girl.

Attorney General Baker, who is black, noted that a plea deal is on
the table that would release Wilson in a maximum of five years and
also remove him from the sex-offender registry. Bernstein called the
      offer "ridiculous."

o Recently in the insanity that represents America's inability to
come to terms with its painful modernity and all its fall-out and its
half-assed and fanatical lurchings back into some manufactured
half-delivered notions of what traditions are and should be, we have
the eternal return to weirdly defective forms of puritanism. A boy
had consensual oral sex with his girl friend who was underage [but so
was he!] at a party. They got caught, the kid was prosecuted and put
away for 10 years and will have a permanent record as a sex offender.
Forever! Never will he have done enough time or suffered enough for
having had the bad judgment to have had oral sex as a teen with
      another consenting teen.

o Eddie Woods responds to this story: When I was studying military
law (while in the Air Force), I read the transcript of a court
martial that saw a soldier convicted (and sentenced to two years in
prison + a bad conduct discharge) for having consensual oral sex
with a female soldier. The testimony included questions & answers
concerning how deeply (in terms of inches) his tongue had penetrated
her vagina. Under the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) this
'crime' carried a maximum sentence of five years. As did all sexual
acts, whether consensual or not, other than 'normal' copulation.
There are still states in the USA (mostly in the Deep South) that
class as a felony all 'unnatural sex acts,' e.g. consensual anal sex
between husband & wife! And people wonder why it might be difficult
for me to publish my poem "The Faerie Princess" in America?

o In another case where the law is used on ordinary people to punish
all behaviour perceived as immoral with max impunity to make sure
people know that there is no fear more justified than having the
fundamentalists mete out punishment for perceived infractions of
god's laws -- a recent documentary by Louis Theroux about this
fundamentalist Christian group/family [with much outside monetary
      support] - I think they're at Godhatesfags.com - believes the US is
going faggot and that America's failing performances in Iraq are
proof of its essential faggotry. what he showed was how normal
seeming members of the church [and basically all family members!],
some seeming normal babes, not bad-looking were absolutely insensed
by the very thought of love, boy friends, kissing, etc... They
actually celebrate the death of every serviceman in Iraq as god's way
of telling us he means business and that only the righteous [they!]
will go to heaven. This fits into the fundamentalist revenge
scenarios as god's tough love somehow as moralism becomes a kind of
excuse to get revenge on those who live different lives. It is no
wonder that the Moslem [and Hindu] fundamentalists and Christian
fundamentalists hate each other so much. They are actually hating
mirror images of themselvesŠ In Amsterdam, declared the gay capital
of the world only a few years back, became a haven for gay travelers
but has now become something of a disappointment as self-appointed
Arab anti-sodomites have taken to gay baiting, teasing and bashing.
Hey, they do resemble vengeful Chritian fundamentalists! Here's
something that could have come from any number of other religious
fundamentalist hate-mongering in god's name websites.

This comes from the Godhatesfags.com website: "The word "fag" is a
contraction of the word "faggot" (or, "fagot"). When traced through
its etymological history, the word "faggot" simply means "a bundle of
sticks used as fuel." See dictionary.com and thesaurus.com (where
such words as "fuel" and "brimstone" are used as synonyms).
"Scholars" can't decide when such a word began to be used in
reference to homosexuals, so we'll give the answer here: "I have
overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye
were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not
returned unto me, saith the Lord." Amos 4:11. The word translated
"firebrand" is the Hebrew word "uwd," which comes from a Hebrew verb
meaning "to rake together" (or, "to gather together"). In short, the
Hebrew word "uwd" is talking about burning sticks of wood that are
gathered together. That is what the English word "faggot" means. Amos
4:11 could just as easily be translated "...ye were as a faggot
      plucked out of the burning..."

For those geniuses out there who are asking, "are you saying that God
hates burning pieces of wood?", the answer is "no, we're using it as
a figure of speech, just like the Bible uses it." It is an excellent
metaphor to describe sodomites because they fuel God's wrath, they
burn in lust, and they will burn in hell. In Amos 4:11, the "fag" is
the person who is sinning after the manner of Sodom and Gomorrah, has
seen other "fags" overthrown by God, and still refuses to repent. So,
the word "fag" refers to people who sin like the Sodomites did. It
not only refers to homosexuals, but also refers to people who support
homosexuals (see Romans 1:32), and people who engage in all other
relatively "lesser" perversions (like impenitent premarital sex and
adultery, including the adultery of all of you divorced-and-remarried
"born again Christians"). On this web site, we use the word "fag" in
      accordance with Amos 4:11. ..."

      * Mother's jail time is sobering lesson: Virginia case offers
cautionary note on underage drinking By Daniela Deane The Washington
Post June 10, 2007: CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Ryan Kenty, 20, and his
brother Brandon, a high school sophomore, plan to drive their mother
to jail Monday morning before heading back to her rented apartment to
move the rest of her belongings into storage. Their mom, Elisa Kelly,
and her former husband, George Robinson, are paying the price for
hosting Ryan's 16th birthday party -- more than 2 years in jail each.
Ryan had asked his mother to buy his friends some beer and wine, as
long as they all spent the night. "No one left the party," said
Kelly, 42, who collected car keys that night almost five years ago to
prevent anyone from leaving. "No one was hurt. No one drove anywhere.
I really don't think I deserve to go to jail for this long." But
Albemarle County Commonwealth's Atty. James Camblos, who prosecuted
the parents, said it was the worst case of underage drinking he had
to deal with in 15 years. "Not only were they serving alcohol to 15-
and 16-year-olds, they misled parents who called to ask about
alcohol, and they tried to get the kids to cover it up after police
      got there," he said.

In this season of senior proms and graduation parties, the story of
the couple is a cautionary tale for parents if they plan to serve
alcohol -- or look the other way. Although 27-month sentences are
rare, parents are increasingly being held criminally responsible for
underage drinking under their roofs, even if they are not aware that
it is going on. "In a lot of cases, the parents are the problem,"
said Diane Eckert, a prevention specialist in the Safe and Drug-Free
Youth section of Fairfax County, Va., schools. Eckert said parents
have to realize that it is illegal for those under 21 to drink and
against the law for adults to provide them with alcohol. Kelly and
Robinson -- the boys' stepfather -- were charged with nine
misdemeanor counts each of contributing to the delinquency of a minor
resulting from the 2002 birthday bash. Both were first sentenced to 8
years, but that was reduced to 27 months. The case was appealed to
the state Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court, which recently
declined to hear it. Robinson's attorney, Jonathan Wren, called the
jail time the "harshest sentence of its kind by a long shot." About
30 adolescents were at the Robinson property in Earlysville, Va.,
when police arrived about 11 p.m. after they received a call about
underage drinking. "I made a big mistake. I know that," Kelly, a
stay-at-home mother, said last week. "I am so sorry." Her son Ryan
was so distraught that he dropped out of school and wants to serve
      her sentence for her.

Kelly said she believed those attending the party were going to
drink regardless. She reasoned that supplying the alcohol and keeping
them home would be safer than having them out drinking and driving.
Court records show she spent $340 on beer and wine for the party that
night. "I'm not a hardened criminal," she said. "I'm just a mom."
